Yeah because moving a gear shift, pushing a clutch pedal . Heck anything to do with driving is so labor intensive?. Get a life and get real please.
WHy isnt the clutch a button on the shifter?Whos bright idea was to make it a foot

Could always make it like a motorcycle and you shift with your foot and clutch with your hand?
n3ss Thanks this. -
Heck you could put the clutch lever on the stick shift. Brilliant !
-
Why can't people shift with a clutch, no matter where it is? I blame them for automatics.
-
Well, with hydraulic clutches becoming more and more of a thing, perhaps the option of a button on the shifter will be a thing. I imagine it would actuate an electric motor which would pump hydraulic oil (DOT3 brake fluid) just enough to brake traction and ensure the clutch brake doesn't get engaged. Don't really think that would be such a feasible option with an older-style (but also simpler) linkage clutch.
Then again, there's always the option to suck it up and cope, just as countless thousands - even millions - previously have. -
My first reaction as well... However!
Holders of thy steering wheel, DEMAND:
Clutch on the shifter, or better yet an automatic.
E-logs as they cannot be messed up.
Push button inspection idiot lights(why mess with walking around and looking at the truck?) heck, push a button.
GPS and a backup GPS (if one quits working simply us the other, if that one breaks... call dispatch, as they would then be lost).
Fancy fingerless driving gloves.loose_leafs and jason6541 Thank this. -
We can ,but why not improve the design? Let me guess you hate ABS....
-
Back in my day we had to fill the whale oil reservoir and individually light each headlight, marker light, tail light, etc.
You kids and your fancy electric lightbulbs and switches are the downfall of this industry!
I love the comment on the inspection light. It activates all the lights so you can check them all in one trip around the truck. Not totally necessary, but it's a nice thing to have. -
I have 3 gps in my truck. Plus 3 navigation apps on my phone. Plus the Qualcomm.
Love my e logs
Love my automatic
No gloves yet. I can't find any cool pairs. Just those stupid ones with Peterbilt on them. -
Nice to have, unless you have to work on them... then you learn the joys of multiplexing... run EVERYTHING through the ECM with enough wiring to light up the Golden Gate Bridge. And of course, it all goes back behind the SCR and DEF doser, so trying to troubleshoot a wiring harness becomes loads and loads of fun!
Yep. I guess it's easier to appreciate when you don't have to deal with that aspect of it, though.
