So it's starting to get cold and I was wondering if I could get a generator and maybe plug a heater inside the truck. What would be my best options keeping cost in mind? Also would I be able to use the same generator to plug the truck in?

    Thanks!!!

    APU and bunk heater.....

Other way - additional deep cycle battery, coolant heater (thermo 90 for example) and bunk heater

Don't know what kind of truck you have, but I just put on the new gear type starter. a lot less in weight, pulls less volts to turn & turns a lot faster. winter starting will be much easier just cause of new starter.

I like the Webasto heater in my truck. Does well for the 70" mid roof sleeper setup. It is great for heating up a can of soup or similar in front the output vent! I also have a Yamaha EF2000is in a box on the frame rail that can run right in the box, nice and secure and out of the weather. I have a Xantrex inverter charger that is general inverter like most are familiar with, unless it is hooked up to the generator or shore power, then it passes the electricity thru and at the same time charges the truck batteries. The generator also runs a 500w oil pan heater that keeps the motor oil at around 130F and the heat rises from that thru the lower part of the engine. Engines starts great. Generator can run all of this on about a gallon of gas over a 8 hr period. Total weight of everything less than 100 lb.

For trucks Webasto offers AT2000, AT3500 and AT5000

AT2000 is the most popular, enought for any cabover, but owners of trucks with big sleepers say - not enought if truck is operated in nothern climate, so AT3500 is better.

AT3500 is derated version of AT5000 for saving fuel. AT5000 was designed for mid size buses, RV and boats. I have AT5000. Really good heater.

Ebershpacher makes AirTronic series, the most popular D1L/LC and D3L/LC.

One more popular bunk heater maker in Ukraine is Teplostar. It is Russian maker, they have some benefits, like LPG version of heater, they use brushless motors. But ... diesel versions are not so efficient, they are noisy and heavy. But they are reliable and cheaper.

Other heater - Ardic, it is made by Eber company, made of stainless steel, very reliable and expencive. Good for boats!

So they're just gear reduction starters? Nothing new about them. They've been around since the 1960's.

People that believe what the Kock brother preach is why the USA scored second place in the whole world in the ignorance survey, Italy was #1

The very best is an APU, A Webasto or Espar is the next a Gas powered generator, you want to talk to you loacal, highway patrol as gas stored in a truck is illegal in a lot of states
