depends on the area, and what the operators/teamsters/laborers have worked out. it differs between pipeline, heavy highway, etc....

There was a dispute years ago, at one of the Gary steel mills, about which union would represent dump truck drivers who drove only at the plant. Operating engineers wanted 'em, so did the Teamsters.
Teamsters are representing a lot of non driving positions these days. My wife worked as a laundry aide in a local hospital, represented by the Teamsters. Some local cops are Teamsters. The list is endless.already gone and Shaggy Thank this. -
Would be nice to see all the bucket haulers in Chicago area go union. This way they might drive civilized, Freakin nuts behind the wheel. Constantly on the news 7 wls, Roll overs, Cant stop, Driving extremely aggressive. WAY UNDER PAYED.

Seattle Wa. has a very strong dump truck union. Lowboy/teamsters hands are exempt from operators union on the pipelines.
