I must say I really love this job. I'm a route driver what we do is we pick up redemption centers with a 48 foot w/ liftgate trailer on average I load 17 Gaylord of glass it is basically a big palletized box that hold 60 cases of glass and around 500 bags. And also swapping 53 foot docked trailers at bigger redemption centers.

All routes are set and are handed out by seniority.

We are a closed union shop for the Teamsters

My work day / week and how it all works.

my particular bid is a 4 day bid workdays are Monday Wednesday Thursday Friday and in them 4 days I'm guaranteed 40 hours I also get OT after 40. Also when I work Tuesdays which is most weeks I'm payed OT.
I start around 4am.

So let say I worked my 4 days and in them 4 days if I only get 32 hrs I'm bumped to 40. And Tuesday's pay is then all OT then if I'm set to work Saturday it is X2 pay

Benefit package is Blue Cross Blue Shield zero deductible $20 copay health vision dental for my family for 86$ a week.

We also get a employee funded pension

All drivers get the same rate of pay which is $20.10 per hr
All overtime and extra work is picked based on seniority

It's a lot of work but I do love this job. Great place to work wonderful management.

 

Thy hire now and then depending on the depot. Class A with 2 years as a driver. And pass a driving test with the safety officer. Must also pass a criminal background check I'm on target to hit 55k this year
