My dad drove. As a kid he made me promise I'd never drive a truck. I imagine he'd kick my ### if he were still alive.

I still love trucks just not the industry and the state its in but thats another rant.
Farm taught by my grandfather on a twin stick at a very early age..
In our family you pretty much either operate heavy equiptment, drive trucks, or both...I fall into the both category.Joetro Thanks this. -
I come from a long line of ....railroaders? Grandfather, father, uncles, brother and cousins going way back. Don't know what happened to me but I guess I'm the black sheep. But I love driving a truck and am thankful that I have been able to provide for my family doing something I enjoy. There are a lot of people that can't say that.

I would like to say its not in my blood but if you check my profile then 30 years and still driving says it all. I started when i was 21
with FFE and admit i was not very mature. I wanted to be home all the time but that didnt happen. After 4 years of FFE i moved back to NYC and drove a Bus for Trailways out of the NYC Port Authority bus terminal to points south. One of the easiest clean
hands off driving job with decent pay but not home all the time. I still missed driving trucks though. Gave up driving all together 4 years later and went in the military for 8 years. When i got out i went right back to driving and have been in a daycab hauling
freight since then. I would say its in my blood, starting my 31st year in Feb.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
I didnt find out until AFTER I got my cdl that my grandfather and several cousins were/are all life long truck drivers. And many more family members including my father are/were working/worked in the transportation industry as non-cdl drivers.
I am just one of the few in my family who went for the A and I am so happy i did. -
sometimes I love it sometimes I hate it. but reality is its not the best job for health. I did more damage to my health in 3.5 years than 11 years doing phisical work in tooling shop. and amagine for a yong guy in his prime being away from his woman weeks at a time.
pattyj Thanks this. -
Both grandfather's are independents

.....Except maybe the E-6 Mack.

I have it my blood as well. I always enjoyed road trips, even when I was very young. -
yes...in my blood forever, for better or for worse....it's me.
