Im just starting out

Im entertaining the idea of driving for an oilfield,been thinking about it for a few years.I have 4 years of dry box experience,3 months of heavy haul,6 months of step deck with a clean record.Can somebody forward me some information I need in order to start looking around?Im currently based out of virginia but Im willing to relocate if need be.The only place I have ruled out is North Dakota.Moving to a new area can be easy for me.

 

The reason why I had ruled out North Dakota is because I have numerous friends who all fell for the same bait and hook strategy that those companies are using.Sure,you might get some decent pay but they neglect to tell you how much housing and normal cost of living will be.Factor that into the equation along with the expenses of making it up there,you have a living situation thats really no better or worst than what Im dealing with now.Besides,who here honestly believes the only kind of work thats going on is strictly canada(ive worked there too),montana,or texas? There are oil fields all around the entire united states.

 

I'm not sure how true it is as I haven't experienced this first hand,but pay seems pretty fair in a few regions of PA around $20-22 an hour to start.Just rumors and "here say" for now.
