I'm sure he's found his way to some random truck stop and he's busy as he'll telling his super trucker stories.

Ramblinman seems to like to make you think that the entire winter is -40.... When it is really 2-4 weeks and not all at the same time. I know because I live here and drive the same areas.

I apologize if this has been said, but 15 pages is alot of reading. Anyway, I believe it may not be quite so much the snow and ice as the ability of the road crews to deal with it. It's all well and good to get a ton of snow up north when you know it'll be dealt by depts with huge budgets for snow removal and all that. The 4 wheelers are used to it too, although it may not look like it sometimes

Up here in Montreal, the snow plows are on standby all winter and as soon as we get 2" or so(I think, not more than that anyway), they're out speading salt and clearing the roads. It's the places down south that very rarely get freezing temperatures and as a result, alot of drivers really have no experience with it. That's where I would be more nervous.

Words are just that, words. YOU don't have millions of miles and decades of experience yet. I don't have any as I am not a trucker but I do have a bit of common sense.

Apparently New Brunswick only has one plow truck and he was busy all day today pulling empty trucks up the hill south of Woodstock. No use clearing the road....heck it will melt in the spring and it is only the Trans Canada Highway after all.

It also helps that Quebec has a mandatory snow tire law

yeah, but it only actually goes into effect this year. Most, but not all, drivers here are smart enough to get them without needing a law to make us do it.
