Maybe the op could come back and clarify but I'm pretty sure "hitting the flash" meant the turn signal, not flashing the brights. I think he would have said "flashed my brights" if that were the case.

Any of you ever said "hitting the flash" when you were talking about your brights? I've never heard it.

Now, why would he hit the turn signal to signal someone to move out of the way?

That's like flashing your marker lights to flash someone over. I've seen that a few times.

    Who told you otherwise?

The "headlight flasher" feature was originally called...wait for it...FLASH-TO-PASS. Yep.

How this turned into an aggressive gesture is beyond me.

You guys ever been out at night with someone that has a flashlight and they think they need to shine it right in the face of whoever they are talking to? Some people just don't get it.

In my opinion, it never turned into an aggressive behavior, and my entire argument has been against the ignorance of such... It's pretty apparent it's simply a few (contrary to the staffs opinion) that seem to have turned this opportunity into a platform to vent...

    What is your problem?
You've already stated that you will continue to flash people because thats what you like to do. How many times do you need beat a dead horse?

All folks did here was to express their dislike for something you feel compelled to do with out regard for how someone else feels.

I already stated,.. my goal was to educate. Nothing else. What you do with the information I gave is up to you.

If you feel its ok to flash 'everyone' based on how YOU feel about it then that is your prerogative. Nothing I can do about it except express my personal feelings.

How ever,.. your assessment of 'A Few' is a bit off. Seems more here DONT want to be flashed and do have a problem with it then those of you who either dont understand or refuse to give them the courtesy they are asking for.

Lets keep this at a civil level or if things get heated the thread will be closed.

The flash to pass is strictly a european thing. They flash slower traffic in front of them and out of courtesy the slower vehicle will/should move to the right as its illegal in many areas to pass on the right. It has nothing to do with signaling the ok to someone that its ok to merge back over after being passed. Ever driven in europe? I have,.. its night and day difference as far as courtesy on the roads are concerned. The US sucks compared to Europe.

How ever we dont live in europe. This is the US with bad drivers and much worse road etiquette. Come up behind someone in the hammer lane and flash them from behind and see what happens. I bet you see more brake lights then those that move over.
