The amount of failures in 2008 do not come close to the amount in 2000-2001.
But the more that fail is better for the industry, as it tightens capacity and that raises rates up even more !!!

Are you sure.??? Magic words,NAFTA & Mexican Trucks equals CHEAP still.
-
Mexican trucks are a non issue, as nearly all of the companies in the pilot program have dropped out....

All it takes is one company

Im glad to see somebody acknowledge the Y2K 180 degree turn in the transportation bussines. The current housing crises only pales in comparison in many a Truckers view.
But the tighten-up part is total B.S. in my book because the steel, ect. manufactured and transported for 100+ years is gone and ain't coming back let alone set a rate on. Keep your 100% of Nothing, 100% of the time. Cut throat bussines, It never was anything spectacular ever anyway. -
I dunno.. yes, there were some serious spikes in '00, but if you look at 4th Qtr '00. it's about 900-1000 - which is where first quarter '08 is. (I think this would be easier to see if the chart had been drawn better - horizontal lines all the way across to better show relative values)
If I were to hazard a guess - and I am - I think the '08 numbers will be commensurate with the '00 and '01 numbers. -
Only time will tell.
