Well, I finally found a place and believe it or not that I am happy, and stress free. For the last 13 years I had been miserable with different outfits such as I was with knight for almost 3 years, had great hometime and a great dispatcher til he got promoted at which time I knew I would be heading back into misery, if I stayed because the other dispatchers were just tools and couldn't be trusted by me.

I was sick of driving and looking desperately to find a way out of trucking all together, I figured going to Werner would be my career killer and without the wife knowing this found a way to get out of trucking and yet not have the wife up my butt because I would have to find another career path.

at first it was ok being at Werner and about a couple of months in came the lies, deceit, etc... I told Werner I quit, done, come get the truck....but they wanted to know what they could do in order to keep me. I told them to either move my truck to a certain dispatchers board or I'll buy a truck and you can put me on this dispatchers board so guess what I leased a truck.

being an lpo wasn't all that bad, stayed out for 2 to 2 1/2 months then went home for 8 days a good deal for me, things went well til about thanksgiving of 2013 from this point on life got tough and miserable woke up angry, and was angry all the time. Money was tight as I went weeks which was unusual without a check so much so I had to often times just take draws to pay bills until the week of April 7-11.

tuesday I finally got my truck out of the shop, and went to the flying j in Indy. While there I seen a sign that said power units only with a name and number to call, so I said what the heck, I'm broke, and really have nothing to lose.
at about 5 pm I talked to a guy and at 7pm that night I was at his office, and we discussed the details of what I was going through and what he could do for me and I can do for him. I didn't get back to my truck til 10 pm that night.

thursday, the balance if my truck was paid off, and Friday I had the bill of sale, and new stickers and logos on my truck, and ran my first load.

i have been here now a month, (and yes I realize that I may be still in the honeymoon stage) but DCL so far has met and exceeded my own expectations of a company. Here is the breakdown of things.....

truck makes $1.40 a mile dh and loaded I am paid off of PC miler so for most part maybe for 5-10 mile difference it's just about spot on with my rand McNally and as far as mapquest, google earth, and a few other programs I use. I have no trailer payments, I pull a brand new 2015 trailer, I am responsible for my Oregon permit but everything else is taken care of for me except for bobtail, and physical damage, road taxes, and my own taxes.

I have talked to other oo about what I am paid, as I feel it seems low to me at times, but if I add in all the other stuff I don't have to pay for trailer rental, etc.... I realistically am making more than $1.40 a mile.

you want to talk about night and day, every morning now I wake up happy, longest time waiting to load or unload so far has been 4 hrs. I don't have to worry about hometime just got back out on the road from hometime last week, in 22 days had 6 days off total and made over 6k to truck in about 16 days of running.

all my bills are paid, finally have money in my accounts, no interest loan, didn't have to sign title over or worry about a lien put on it. There is no bs, no hunting for a load, brand new trailer, and am treated with respect. Looking at going home here by end of month again so now my hometime is going to improve. Right now just running to get ahead of the game.

any oo that tired of the bs, wants to run where they want, when they want then this is the place to be, I am always looking for the downfalls with any company I have ran for but here still cannot find s downfall or set back, I'm not lied too, etc...

My life, my whole world has done a 180 degree turn around. I am actually enjoying being out on the road again, even my friends who I talk to on the phone have stated that they hear a whole new tune from me. I am glad I have finally found a place that leaves me stress free and worry free. I normally would have found some fault by now but haven't and finally found a place to be permanently.

DCL has changed my and my families life for the better. There are good companies out there just sometimes we have to look in the right places.

Not only is it a world of difference in attitude, but, health wise, and life wise, even my truck seems happier now. I enjoy driving again, and don't mind being out. Talk about a game changer,

ill post updates but really don't see much changing.

Well, it's been 2 months now that I have been here, and really not much has changed, I still have a brand new trailer, and I am still running.

Some may say that the pay maybe on the low side of things, and at times I would agree, but.....there is a few things here that really make up for a little lower wages.

i had some mechanical issues on my truck, being that I just started here my truck was and is now currently in the shop getting worked on. I honestly believe that if I was to have been hired on somewhere else I would basically be out of a truck, and looking for a company job in order to get my truck fixed. The bill so far this month is again 7k. But good news is that once I get running I can get this amount taken care of and again start working on a maintenance account.

Its like family here, I have no money worries, or issues, and am not having to worry about being stressed out. I been to allot of companies as a company driver and this again is the first place that I have been at that has treated me not only so good but fair also.

I have been home since last Saturday and am waiting now for my truck to get out of shop to start running looks like ill start running on Monday at this point in time. So my hometime has been definetly better than when I was at Werner and for what it's worth the way I'm treated and my hometime makes up for the shortage in money I could be averaging. Would I like to make more? Do I think I am worth more than what I am making? Yes allot more, but i wouldn't trade the peace and security and the way I'm treated now for a place that would or could pay me more.

i have an awesome support team, and I don't think anyone could ask for better than that.

If someone who is an o/o and is serious about keeping their equipment up and wanting to run with a great support team contact me via pm and we will talk. I couldn't have found a better company to be leased too. The money is good not great but the rest is great and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

ill post on here at least once a month to tell you about my progress and how things are going, but I don't see too much changing between now and next month as a whole lot really hasn't changed between now and last month.

This is company is for people like me who just want to make a little more money than to pay the bills and have family and hometime come first. And here my family and hometime comes first and pay comes second, let's face it we all know we are not going to get rich out here, and I for one am enjoying and finally able to put my family first.

come Monday will be back out on the road and running again with my dog and pony show, but will be doing it again happier, relaxed, and not stressed out.

Why live life and accept it for being good when one can live life and have a great time doing it. This is one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. And everyday is a great day.

Well, it's now the third month and yet to date still having a hard time finding just one thing to complain about. Generally I can at least find something even minor to complain about but I really just cannot find one thing.

generally, when one says things are too good to be true then there has to be a catch, gimmick, or a scam of some sort. I cannot find one, pay is always on time, I can accept or not accept loads, etc...

People who I have talked to for quite some time even say that I have changed, I don't sound as stressed out and seem more mellow. Other o/o I talk to seem to be stressed out or mad about this or that for the companies they are leased to.

some trade offs are worth more than money, I don't know maybe a few months from now maybe I'll have a different view but so far DCL has exceeded and surpasses my expectations from a company and has values in place that most wished, or dreamed of having.

Sometimes the grass is really greener on the other side, with the table and all the fixings to boot.

if I had to guess right now about next months posting well, I think that is going to be hard especially if there are no new developments, and everything keeps going like it is.

Well, we just completed month 4 at DCL, and I finally found something that I can truly complain about.....

My complaint is that I have nothing to complain about lmao....

Life has been difficult being an o/o, I mean last month I had almost 8k in work done to my truck, and now this month I am up to about 2k in work done. just had to replace my power steering pump, and also the bags on the cab along with a service. If it wasn't for the maintaining of the truck I probably would be doing a whole lot better than what I am now. But I guess having a 2007 freight shaker its probably expected, at the rate I have been going almost everything on my truck is new but I am sure something will pop up in order to need to be fixed.

DCL is one of the greatest places I have worked for in the last 13 years, and still I run and have no issues, no pay issues, not being lied too, and am treated like family here.
DCL has implemented something that allot of other companies have forgotten which is treating people like people and not a number.

I have talked to other o/o with different companies and I know a couple that I talk to personally and they seem happy, but then again I talk to some of these o/o at the truck stops and they seem miserable, fighting, arguing, etc..etc.. with who they are working with.

Life and my truck has thrown me some curve balls, but I do believe that if I were to have signed on with anyone else, I would have ended up failing, and losing everything. Being at DCL I have no issues still, no worries, my bills paid, truck stays maintain and I am happy.

After all isn't that what we are all looking for is a place with no issues, stress etc...? When I started here there were like 50 trucks, today I think there is almost 80 here now. Pay wise I would say I am right around what anyone at mercer, landstar, or any other o/o company would pay. Last month made net about 12k, and that really wasn't running my butt off either.

Someone could offer me $20.00 a mile to run for them and there would be no way I would leave here, It wouldn't matter to me what one could offer, as there is a special, and unique quality that money cannot buy here and that is where people actually care about people.

I have read through some of the postings of others and found that eventually they end up in the report a bad company threads, a few months or so down the road, after people have posted how well things were going. I have tried and tried just to find one little thing wrong here and cannot find a single thing, and again I don't think or believe that most people can say that about a company or organization.

If you are an o/o and are wanting to be at a place where you can truly be an o/o with no headaches, or bs, then quit reading and you can pm me or go look up DCL and finally come to where the grass truly is greener on the otherside.

If this keeps up trying to post new information, and or a new status is going to be kinda hard considering that honestly I think next months posting will be the same as this months. But hey, at least i know I work an honests days work for an honests days pay. With no worries, or issues, or problems....can you say that?

Ok here we go with another update and well drum roll please...................

i am still here life is great, and I am still running. Had some real life issues going on the last couple of months so sorry for any delays for updates.

But am still really struggling to find sone thing really solid to even complain about, seems like I had more to complain about while driving for big companies or BFC. Then I do now, it seems most of my complaints nowadays is either 4 wheelers or shippers or recievers but generally with shippers and recievers it's how one gets into their place.

my load / unload times still faster than normal and get this I still have yet to goto a customer who starts off with the phrase, oh no here is ......

Anyways life is good, truck running good, pay is great, hometime (for my situation is no issue).

if life could get better than this I don't know how, and to find another place like this well not sure if there is another place that could even add up to how well things are going here.

You our want no stress, no worries, no complaints, well I don't know many that can make or do make statements like me about a place. Need a new home, well you will feel like you hit the jackpot here.

each month it gets harder and harder to write about dcl. Because the reports so far are the same and again I think next month things won't change much either....pretty soon I'm just going to have one word postings......DITTO.......

have fun fun be safe and keep the wheels moving.

Very well said! This is exactly what I'm looking for and want to say sorry you had to hit the wall before you came back up. I'm in a bit different place as I've done extremely well and am very profitable the last 3 years but what you describe is exactly what I'm looking for! I will be in touch with DCL and Lowa3468, you seem like a very intelligent drive, certainly atypical of the stereotypical driver and I enjoyed reading your story. Places like DCL is exactly what the
trucking industry needs instead of the greedy shippers, carriers,
    and receivers.

a little about me, well i have been driving for about 13 years now have a little over 1m miles under my belt, and have no accidents and or tickets. ((ok well i have had 2 non-preventable, 1 dui accident (no i wasn't the one drinking lmao). and one just recently where a halliburton driver backed into my truck in Smithton, Pa.) and ok (1 speeding ticket like 7 years ago or so lmao) but that is it.

as far as being a straight shooter, well i sometimes tend to shoot it a little too straight for some, but oh well i guess that is what big boy pants are made for, and if those that read my postings dont get it well too bad for them, except it does get me in trouble with the mods (lmao, 1 posting so far did).

but being laid back here is the way it is, boss looks at it he is not in it for the quick money, but for the long haul, and if we are profitable, then he will be profitable too, its a win win situation here. (just because i agreed to $1.40 a mile dh/ld doesn't mean that you wont be offered more and if you are great, no worries on my end. I also dont get a so called finders or head hunter fee.)

but I would say that there was one time I really blew up here,a s I hate running the n.e. area, and he paid me $500 for the troubles, plus my dh out of that area as I had a enough, I am not a n.e. running person.

but I have a hard time telling him no, as the man has never lied to me, or mis-lead me, and has had my back even when my wife was ill earlier this past couple of months. and even though I am not going to the so-called n.e. (well to me it is) I again find that I am heading to buffalo, ny. tomorrow, but for the most part i stay out of that area all together usually.

    anyways.......

I try to update this at least 1x a month barring, hometime, or major family issues, etc.... as you can see I did skip a posting or two before i did a major update. but I do at least try to post once a month, only trouble is I really have a hard time finding something to post about as still as of this posting I have nothing to complain about ok,,,, I guess I do I am going to new york tomorrow......(but i didn't have to i could have told him no) but really......there isn't allot going on here just hook and book, and collect a check and counting the days til i am home again and down to 20 as it is right now....
