I have friend who lives in Az it's hard to get out and in with van. Maybe if you lease to company based in Az it will be helpful .

i met a guy who did pretty darn well pulling bulk ISO containers...some of it hazmat some of it not. Sure if they'd have any places that do that in AZ.

Watkins Shepard may ahve something. I leased to their flatbed division. Bruce Oakley runs to Phoenix all the time. they haul sand in and broken beer bottles and junkyard stuff out (including groundup alternators, baled cars and contaminated dirt which goes to Miami) All RRs are tough to get on with but it's a great job, ins and retirement.

LOL, maybe after 15 or 20 years of service. You start out on what they call an extra board. You may be home every day after work for a whole week or even a month but you wont know you have a day off until after its over and the phone didn't ring. I did 16 years of railroading for CP, 14 of those as an engineer after I had enough and pulled the plug. Took a cut in pay but well worth my sanity. The thrill goes away quickly. You might make great money with the old golden handcuffs latched on tight but the lifestyle sucks, worse than trucking. Only railroad I would ever recommend working for is Amtrak.

What about FedEx? A lot of those running 40 west coats to east and back. I'm not sure how their leased guys work but it might be worth researching.
