Hi everyone. I thought I would ask you, guys, for some advice for insurance renewal.

I’m an o/o with own authority in OH and have been insured with Progressive for 3 years. I had the bobtail coverage with them in the first 2 years and now for 1 year a full coverage after I got my authority. For all this time - not a single claim, no accidents, not a single ticket. I expected my rates to go down a bit, yet on renewal they’re raising my premium by $400 with a sole excuse that “rates in OH went up overall.” And while their representations might be true, it seems like this is some kind of “universal” excuse for insurance companies to penalize you on renewal for your good behavior. Back in college, I remember, our professor in economics described this kind of business as “a system of moral hazards.”

So I requested a loss run report from Progressive and asked my insurance agent (Progressive is an underwriter) to get quotes from other companies. Although my rate with Progressive was good for a newcomer, still... Anyone can recommend me a reasonable alternative to Progressive, based on your experience with them? Thanks, guys, in advance.

    progressive is the worst,

call dalily underwriters in Penn,,they are on the new,,good company, good prices and you can make monthly pmts direct with no interest,,they own daily express a specialized trucking company, I used them for years,

KENTUCKY CARRIERS - the state has added a 12% Kentucky tax surcharge to all insurance policies, except workers compensation. It is bad enough on homeowners and personal auto policies that have lower premiums but quite a chunk with Commercial Vehicle insurance. I saved a lot and got a good deal with Matt Turner with Heritage Insurance out of Louisville, KY. I saved almost 50% on my premium and got more coverage.
