I live in the Atlanta, Ga area and have no idea where to look or who to talk to to find the "good jobs". I have seen plenty of posts of drivers who claim they love their company and they get great pay with great home time or they are home every day but I have yet to see one of these posts with a company name to back it up.

I am currently looking at a job offer with CEVA doing a home every night run but the run just isn't making sense to me. The run is 614 miles at 31 cpm and 5 stops at $6.50 per stop for a grand total of 222.84 a day. That does sound good on paper I just don't understand how someone can do 614 miles and 5 stops in a 14 hour period. If it was all drop and hook at each stop maybe but how are you suppose to back up to the dock and wait for your load to be loaded 5 different times. Plus I really don't want to work more than 12 hours a day and I don't feel like 31 cpm and $6.50 per stop is good for a safe driver with 2 years experience. Am I wrong?

If the good jobs are out there but you guys can't or don't want to tell everyone in the world where to look then is there a way to send a private message and let me know?

I was over the road for a while and my home was robbed (completely robbed, lost everything in the home including a 98 fatboy and 97 jeep wrangler sport) while I was out so I would prefer to do something local but if I have to I would do something where I was home on weekends as long as the pay is good.

I have two years experience with no tickets and one non-preventable accident with a letter from the company stating the accident was deemed non-preventable.. The accident was something so small it was not even reported to law enforcement and I had no Idea it even happened. No criminal history as well. Haz Mat endorsement.

Any ideas would be great. I have been out of work for a while now and I am really down that I haven't been able to find a decent job. I have no children (but I do have a young wife in college) to take care of and my home is paid for so I don't want a job trying to kill myself every week for a paycheck.

Thank you for your input fellow drivers.

Cardinal Logistics has about 3 accounts in the Atlanta area. Check their website.

If you don't mind some work ( unloading at a fast food place ) checkout GSF. Home most nights , great pay , 70k plus if you'll work , great equipment ( read well maintained / safe) good benefits/ retirement. Worked there for 3 decades. They have a distribution center in Conyers Ga.

Thanks for the replies Tony and Chinatown. I checked out both companies but neither have any openings at the moment. I will try Sysco or PFG. I also thought maybe trying out my hand at tankers. I don't currently have the tanker endorsement and know it is fairly simple to obtain plus I have seen a few ads for tanker jobs in the area. Any thoughts?

Also what do you guys think of the position with Ceva I mentioned in my OP???

I wouldn't do CEVA except as a last resort. That type job will run you ragged and keep you exhausted.
Go for tankers. Florida Rock & Tank has a terminal there, but plenty others do also.

Trucks inc. Jackson ga. Work as much as you want or as little as you want. Come and go as you please home Evey other day for ones that want near Jackson yard. 98% d/h 300 trucks to 1500 + trailers. No Qualcomm or elogs. I'm on my thrird year hear never been out more than 3 nights still take home around 850 to 950 a week. Really not to bad if you don't mind pulling a older trailer with a newer base model truck but I don't mind I live in my house not the truck. Good luck in your search.

It all depends on you and what you want from a driving job. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
