Hey guys and gals.
Name is Sean and I start training on Monday at Raider Express in Fort Worth, TX. About to be 30 in January and have been unemployed since March of this year from a job I worked at for 7 years. I've always been interested in doing this though, as my dad, two uncles, and best friend's dad were all truckers in NY and SC, and all did OTR. I myself am married and we have a little one, so I know it's going to be tough. I just know that I'll be supporting my family financially like I'm supposed to. However, there is only one thing that makes me nervous about driving and that's merging onto the highway. I'm sure it really isn't that big of an issue, I just know how many people don't understand the concept of letting a vehicle merge in front of them because everyone is always "rush rush rush."
Anyways, with that said. I look forward to crossing paths with some of you on here as well as on the open road.

No... cars/trucks already on the highway are the ones who have right of way. Cars merging are just that... merging. The merger should adjust their speed accordingly, not make other cars or trucks on the highway adjust their speed just because they're coming on the highway.
Good luck with trucking btw! -
My comment about merging came off a little wrong. In my neck of the woods, someone sees someone trying to get on the highway and they speed up to close the gap. Can't tell you how many accidents and near accidents I've seen because of that.
But thank you for the luck! -
Oh. In that case yes, thats some f'ed up #### there. Totally uncalled for.
And np! -
Usually a rule of thumb is to yield weather there's a sign or not, and then PUNCH IT! Gettin on the highway goin too slow will make you a hazard so it's important to get ur speed up
