So April is getting closer and I am getting al my ducks in a row. Was reading the FMCSA regs last night and it looks like I'm required to take a stress test. Cheapest price I could find locally is $2600 for their effort to kill me and they want an extra $600 to document it with an EKG. To anyone who hasn't had one of these, essentijally if they can't get you tjo have a heart attack, you've passed. I had 3 of these over the years and hate them with a passion only eclipsed by my ex-wife.

Anyone know of a place that would do this cheaper, even if I have to travel? 3 grand is allot of cash outlay just to be totally abused for 15 minutes. Or would it be better to skip that box and use selective memory, old age and poor eyesight as an excuse if they catch me. I can pass any of the physical tests these companies give, including a short jog if somebody is chasing me, but gee-mo-Netty, I sure don't want to have to run across the equivalent of the French Alps in 15 minutes... Fellow might not act right after that, they'd probably want another 10 grand just to fire up those cattle prods if something goes really wrong.

That's outrageous for a stress test then again that's part of medical and they're the king of crooks.Wonder how much of a profit they're making. Why are you required to take a stress test?

Heart attack most likely. It's required to get back on the road if you've had one.

I got 3 stents, no heart attack or anything. Went into the doc and mentioned angina, he sent me for tests and they said I was fine but could use the stents in 3 of the arteries. 65-75% blockages. Had great insurance back then so went for it.

Hi Poor_Dog, just tell them you raised little children, you should be grandfathered in. I can't think of anything more stressful, than raising kids.:biggrin_25516: Seriously, sounds like you are getting hosed, I never heard of that.

If you can not go through a simple stress test, you don't need to be driving truck. I am 73 years old, and have to take on every year to get passed on my DOT. Do you not have any kind of insurance?? They are expensive, I will grant you that. Go to your local hospital, and have them do it, and make payments. If you can't handle the tread mill have the nuclear stress test. Have you had a heart attack, or any heart procedures? What is the reason you think they will require one??

I can do it, but no insurance, cash out of pocket. I had really high blood pressure and things kind of avalanched from there, next thing you know they astarted sharpening a filet knife and put three stents in. Maybe the one they (DOT) require is different from what I've undergone in the past. They were about a 15 minute jog uphill with a flat out run for roughly the last 5 minutes. Last one I took I almost didn't complete because my heart rate wouldn't come up to what they were looking for. Doesn't help that I have a torn ACL in my right knee and ran a McCullough chainsaw from my left ankle to mid point of my lower leg. Doesn't affect much except I tend to walk in circles.
