That guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
Probably forgot about his out of route miles to the titty bars during the week.

on a 1,500 mile load, I'll be within 10 miles of the paid miles.
On a 350 paid mile load. I'm usually at least 40 miles underpaid.

This was my weekend load, 230 paid miles, 4 extra stops, 317 hub miles.

Good luck in your new adventure Freightwhipper.

    Thank you

Crete/Shaffer was very kind to me...

Office lady and my asset manager called me asking if there was anything they can do to help and that I'm welcomed back at anytime.
It was emotionally difficult to leave because they were good to me.. never tried to screw me over and I was appreciated.. plus I made more money than I thought I would.
Oh yeah and I got home always always at or near the exact day I was supposed to, then again I live an hour away from the terminal.
    BUT that's life....

For those wondering I never had an issue with miles or getting paid actual miles.. sometimes it's a little bit off but not by much. Sometimes I got paid for more miles than I actually drove.
On the Shaffer side I rarely had loads with extra stops. When it does happen I got an extra $30.

    tucker and xlsdraw Thank this.

oh and if you get a crappy fuel solution wayyyy out of route that doesn't mean you have to accept it.. the computer sets all that.
Call them and they'll find you something better.

Most often time I drove extra miles is because I didn't want to go over the GW bridge and I'd rather around using I-287
The paid miles are to go over the GW bridge.. yeah no thanks unless it's at 2am.

As a Shaffer driver you'll see that stupid GW bridge a lot

    Exactly! ...

Practical miles are usually very close to actual miles unless you either have a bunch of stops and get screwed because of the zip to zip or run a bunch of out of route miles.

Good luck to you and thanks!

Last week I had 2700 driven I know for a fact that I didn't get paid
All those miles I am probably getting paid 2300-2400 of the 2700 that I ran from what trips I turned in
I'm on a trip that from broken bow, ne to plainfield, IN
850 miles loaded give or take

Aaaand thats one of the many reasons I'm happy running dry van with Crete vs reefer with Shaffer. Same company but often very different freight lanes. I get slightly more miles (2900 average at last check) but I won't voluntarily go north or east of PA unless there's some VERY good mileage involved. Since I've been here I've run freight in/out of western NY a few times, into Jersey once and once I made it as far northeast as Newburgh. And living in SoCal has nothing to do with it, I spend most of my time going back and forth from the Midwest to the Southeast or Texas. And yeah, occasionally I get stuck in the dreaded PA/OH loop every now and then. On the downside my asset manager is an idiot (my home terminal staff is awesome but not my AM) and I pretty much don't see the west coast unless I'm due for hometime but I pretty much knew what I signed up for before I got hired on. As long as they keep paying me well, getting me home when I ask and they don't jack me around as much as Swift did I can't complain much.

By the way freightwipper good luck in the future. I know there are some better companies out there and for your sake I hope you find one. If not we're always recruiting :biggrin_25523:
