If you guys ever read a post of mine, you know i'm currently getting all my cdl stuff straight and going to be hitting the road...hopefully this weekend. Today i was finally able to get all my stuff squared away the interesting state of AZ, and now have my Alabama CDL.

I'm looking at western express (go ahead and talk the #### i know what i'm getting into) because they have 2 terminals very very near my house, they're willing to put up with my dac report, but they also have a ###### rider policy. SPOILER ALERT!!

starting Jan 1st 2015 they're going to start allowing people to have pets with them!! yay!!!

The reason all of this matters to me, my best friend is 20, looking for a career change, his dads a retired trucker, his mom has fibro, life is kinda not the best, and he's always wanted to be a trucker. Western allows me to take hiim with me if i want to, and i want to. Now, most companies i find that have a rider policy require it to be spouse or child.

who else has rider policy that is good for anyone spouse, dad, best friend, anyone you desire.

    ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND GO!

    :)

Holland Enterprises out of Fargo, ND. They have a fleet of 300 trucks on average and are 100% long haul refer. As a result of the long runs you're required to stay out for three weeks instead of the average two weeks, but most don't find that to be a problem. If you want more information there is a thread on here 70 pages long called New horizons with Holland Enterprises (Fargo, ND). The extra insurance for a rider I think is $21/month but you can bring anyone, they also have a liberal pet policy. I knew someone that had birds. Despite how ridiculous that sounds, all the trucks are clean and fairly new.

    surfernabox Thanks this.

As a relatively new driver I would think there would be far more important criteria when choosing a carrier like safety score, how well they pay, miles, condition of trucks, the list goes on. Did you ever think maybe this is their way of attracting drivers to sign on with them because they lack in most if not all of the aforementioned areas? I'd have to question a mega carrier than would implement such a thing. It's bound to be abused and asking for trouble. Just sayin'...

luckily for me, i have three aunts that are o/o's and i'm just kinda biding my time until we can get another truck that i can drive for them. unlucky for me, i'm currently fighting an abandonment on my dac, so my options are limited.

also lucky for me i own my own home and land. its nice only having to pay my cell phone bill when i'm on the road. all i do is save money. 27cpm is bull ####, i give you that. i was getting 42, but sometimes to you gotta put up with bull #### until you can get cards in your favor.
