Hey guys and gals, just kind of curious to see what most of the o/o are doing out there.

Do you own your truck and lease on with a company running their trailers and having them dispatch you loads?

Do you own your truck and trailer and lease it on with a company who dispatches you loads?

Do you own your truck and trailer and dispatch your own loads through load boards or calling companies direct?

What are you hauling...... reefer, flat deck, dry van etc?

Leased on to a company I've worked with for about 3 years now as a company driver, office management and now leased on. Great owner, fair compensation on dry van freight running the I-5 corridor.

They pay me 90% of the load and handle all of the relevant deductions associated to operating the truck and I receive a net pay settlement pay every two weeks.

I like doing it this way, because I have no concerns about getting paid, filing all the relevant state and federal forms (except my own personal income taxes) and what not.

I might consider getting my own authority in the future, however, I'm very content doing what I'm doing now, not to mention I'm making a decent living.

Leased to LS. Power only for now. Will grab a wagon and numbers once the funds are there.

Nomad. Own authority truck and trailer hauling reefer. Mostly broker freight. I have about 5 regulars I haul for 99% of the time. Still use the boards occasionally.

    281ric Thanks this.

I'm a bit different than most. I'm leased on to my father in law currently pulling his trailer but operate as my own company working directly with shippers and getting paid directly from them. My wife handles the billing for our truck and we also handle the ifta and licensing. It works out for us and seeing as we'll most likely be inheriting the trucking company when he passes cause he has no plans of retirement will be 65 next month.

Currently hauling grain but will be hauling steel in the next month or so
