After upgrading to a stronger tranny, t cooler, install and extras yeah 10k.

It's arrogant techs like you that think they know everything that costs people like me money. Don't try and discredit me cause it says I've been trucking 4 years.

I'm speaking from "it happened to me experience" because I've got a handful of trucks that run into these issues and oh crap wouldn't you know it......... mine was a 2003 columbia with a s 60. ....... but according to you that couldn't happen. .

Get off your high horse man, I'm just giving a guy a option to look at super tech

If you re read i said rare and not likely. Yes I am good at what I do. Thanks. Its not my problem you failed to pm your truck and lost a trans. The original post has no info on the truck either. Its not arrogance its confidence. If you wouldn't have made your comment in the first place i wouldn't have commented. Yes most techs these days are not any good, the reason I get paid so well. When you look at facts you see that what happened to your trans was rare sorry about your bad luck. I deal with people everyday that drive and know it all. So I've learned over the years to always trust my gut and always second guess and check what the driver says. I am not the best diesel mechanic ever, I know people that are better. Sorry to have offended you with my opinion, but mine is from more experience.

I thouggt it was a question for me. Not the op...... what happened to me was a driver not telling me about a problem and talking with our company mechanics about it. I found out when the mechanics let me know my tranny was pooched unfortunately.

Another factor in the price difference is that truck works in the bush in northern alberta and the shop rates are $160/hr + and parts cost more to get up there.

    Cheers.

But like I've also said. Not all transmissions use coolant. Most, especially in a series 60 are air cooled from factory. No point in being a jerk because I can explain my diagnosis. And you just heard about the problem second hand. Not even driving. I deal with your type a lot. Its easy to come up with a diagnosis you heard about. Its different when you are the one crawling under trucks daily. I didn't become the shop manager for lack of knowledge or skill. I know what im talking about and have the utmost confidence in it when I do. It sounds to me like you arent even in a truck daily. Not only do I work on them i also happen to own one. Sorry your mechanics suck but dont treat me like some dimwit that doesnt know anything.

I have 4 trucks running daily with 2 backups. I am definatly in a truck every day, but i cant be in them all. the truck in question was 10 hours away in the bush.

Up until I bought my 4th truck I did most repairs and maintenance myself, I've been pulling wrenches in a salvage truck yard since I was a kid so as I said don't try and discredit me because you see 4 years. I can't even count the idiot shop managers I've ran into. It means nothing to me.

I haven't said your wrong, my guess probably isnt even right... all I've said is this is what happened in my case so maybe the op may consider it. You obviopsy have some god complex going on or something.

I'm don't with this b.s. Piss ing contest..... say your piece and move on before we both get banned.

First of all I have no complex. like i have said i am just confident in my diagnosis and can explain it. Im not the one putting you down or comparing you to idiot dispatchers or whatever it is you do. Turning wrenches in a salvage yard is a lot different than repairing semis on one of the busiest highways in the united states. It sounds like you've primarily taken them apart. Congrats, I put them back together. Sorry I have confidence in my work and that irritates you because you can't find a good mechanic. What im getting at is a diagnosis with background knowledge always trumps "this happened to me once". Sounds like you have a hard time taking advice. And maybe you should step back and reevaluate this situation. I know my work is good and i know what I can do and not being confident in that wound be a huge mistake as I have seen decent techs fail for lack of confidence in their work.

Well I apologize for offending you. This forum is all about knowledge, ideas and real world experience being passed on. I am here often for advice, I take advice very well.

But when you lead with I see you've only been trucking 4 years........ your gonna get some backlash.

Trust me, we all appreciate experienced expert advice on here.

I also use this site for problems I can't solve or something I'm not that experienced in, like apu's, not a lot of need for those around here. I do come off ####y but I can't help that. I'm passionate about what I do. I don't have many in my shop that I will let do more than small simple stuff so I know what you're saying about bad techs. I'm just not one of them

If to much oil get in your radiator it will push the water out and the engine will over heat.
