I have a issue with my cab bouncing violently during driving. The cab bottoms out on the frame. I need to know if anyone has simular problems and what was done to fix it. Dealer fix?

sounds like the cab shocks are blown, that's about the only thing that'll let it bounce like that.

    kenho031 Thanks this.

or you may have one bad air bag, or the leveling valve for the air bags may not be set right or working properly.

Is that something that can be done by me or does it have to done by a experienced mechanic? The valve between the airbags has a rubber cap on it and it has a small hole in it. I figure that is a release port. If I push the area (as if it were a button) the airbags inflate, but as soon as I release the pressure, they deflate. My team is very annoyed.

Thats the leveling valve , not hard to change , just be sure your to drop the air pressure before disconnecting anything to avoid an ACCIDENT.

    kenho031 Thanks this.

Thank you for your advise. I can inform dispatch of my problem and see what they want to do. Does the discription sound like the valve is defective?

IMO it's not the air system, it doesn't control the bounce, it simply goes up/down with the flow... the shocks control the rate of rebound... shocks are easy to check too... pull em off and see if they are easy to move, if they are then they bad... lots cheaper than trial and error replacing air system parts.

If you are covering a hole and it inflates fix the hole:biggrin_2554:

Sounds like the valve is bad but asking at a parts counter would probably verify. As stated shocks only control rebound but could have caused bad valve by not curbing movement.

    What was the verdict?
Sounds like you need to replace the cab leveling valve.

I just had mine replaced. Was leaking air pretty bad.
I'd wake up in the morning to 2 empty air tanks.

However, it DID NOT fix the whole problem.

My cab goes up-n-down and up-n-down while shut down/sleeping.
Like an East LA low-rider with bounced shocks.
Seems to me one of the air bags is bas also?
And it rumbles like crazy like bongos from that side while driving.

Shop doesn't know/care ... seems like a week at the dealer?

    Anyone?

My cab shocks are also worn out. Get old stock monroe 66127 if you can find em or you may have to resort to the international part 3595977c96 at a much higher price. I was hoping to an external shock retrofit. Possibly making a bracket and fitting crown vic shocks. The air bags are fine (on mine) the cab floats free and bounces violently over frost heaves. Anyone try this?
