Yes they do. They would rather you run teams but they do have solo runs going up north east. Also they have a dedicated run out to Nebraska I believe to pick up new trailers.

As it turns out, I had to put my Werner job on an indefinite hold because despite plentiful efforts, I couldn't get the judge or the magistrate to rule on my relocation request, before I started with Werner. Since I am my daughter's custodial parent, I can't just relocate her, or both of us, without a court order.

So, I went to FBE. Did the road test, DOT physical and drug test, hoping I could get on the local route they had available at the time. No such luck. Was told the company would work with me and put me on short trips to the northeast or so, in order for me to be home as often as possible, but they also said that as an entry level driver, I'd be in training for 90 days. And that probably means those "short trips" will not be available for me, notwithstanding that 90 days in training seems a bit excessive, especially when there are other companies that require as little as 13 days of training before you're set off on your own.

I'm still weighing my options, but it's quite obvious my hands are tied until this relocation issue is resolved.

From what I know, and strictly for insurance reasons, FBE considers any recent grad an entry level driver. Entry level drivers must ride with a "trainer" (in quotations because trainers are really co-drivers) for a minimum of 90 days. Then the driver is evaluated and if additional "training" is required, an additional 90 day period will be added.

Entry level drivers are paid $0.16/mile, $7.50/stop, and $0.20/box fingerprinted from day one. Not sure whether there's a pay increase after training.

Im out with my trainer about a week and a half then home for about two to three days but like i said there is no forced dispatch so you could stay home longer if you like and they will send you out with another trainer when you are ready. As far as the pay after training you take the road test again and they will give you a score and depending on your score is how much they will give you. Can be .19c/mile or to .21c/mile including stop, unloading, detention pay etc.

Ok, I was considering going with a big carrier CDL program and go OTR, but recently I think my wife and I decided that might not be the best choice for us. So I started searching for schools around me, unfortunately I think the only 2 schools in Palm beach county are "cdl mills" from what I read on another post but then I found Sheridan, which isn't that close to me but seems like it might be worth the drive. My plan once finished with school would be to get a local job.

what u guys think about Sheridan or any other schools around Palm beach county? Also what do you think about local jobs? Any suggestions or opinions ?

Comcar has lots of local jobs, but the pay isn't the greatest. I'd try one of their tanker divisions.
