Back in the early 90's it was one of the best trucking jobs I ever had. I ran and made money and everyone in the office knew you when you called in. I doubt it is still the same because of the revolving door swinging so fast at most companies.
Be warned you will do a lot of pumping of cooking oils as Indian River has taken most of the gravy loads.

The Challenger and Leftnut Thank this.

I've been talking to a recruiter there this past week. Sounds like a good gig. Like with every other job you hear good and bad stories. The recruiter said alot of there hazmat is alcohol . Whiskey and stuff like that . I've been working for Swift the past 4 years so I can't go anywhere but up from here. Once the lease on this truck is up I'll be going to work for Oakley.
Leftnut Thanks this. -
HUH,ANOTHER fantastic offer..right. What happened to all the driver sign on bonus for 2014 the company refused to pay. Got paid the first $500 then ignored. My recruiting letter sets very plainly the payout schedule, except no one will standup and honor the deal. AFTER the company gave me the run around for an additional 6 wks past the agreed 2nd payment I resigned. This company owes every driver the truth UP FRONT, not adding restrictions when arriving in Lake Wales. The truth is Oakley CSA score is a disaster, and smoke and mirrors is the only way to seduce PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS to look their way. Lastly I will post all the recruiting offers agreed to by Oakley and then drivers can make their own decision. P.S Oakley still calls every day wanting me to come back, stating "I can't believe you resigned over a sign on bonus!"
stabob Thanks this. -
Don't feel special that they call you I worked there 24 Hrs brought the truck back the next morning handed the keys to someone in the office I'd never seen before and walked out. But I still get a post card and a phone call to come back. No shame at Oakley!

Some one once said,"Integrity is something to always to worry about... when you lose your integrity it is always time to worry."

I am not going to work there. I have a terrific job at Southern Ag Carriers but no driver can say that .53 a mile doesn't sound tempting. A tempting offer isn't enough for me to leave where I am.
-
I got an offer for you my truck I'll pay 10.00 a mile! The catch its only 2 miles a week. Think about it.
-
See temtping offer stabob until the 2 miles. We are human it's easy for all of us to get tempted but there are some of us like myself that don't eat the fruit.
That being said I have talked to quite a few Oakley drivers that are happy and have talked to a few that are not. There are companies that are good for some and not for others. I think all experiences with companies will be different. I am not going to work for Oakley. Being tempted and actually getting close to taking the job are 2 different things. Also I have found that most happy drivers don't come to truckers report to report they are happy. Most people come here to vent because they feel they have been wronged.
So I am not going to say Oakley is a bad company just from a few people on here saying it is. -
I am curious as to which perfect company some of the guys on here work at because their are some hard to please drivers here. I am hard to please too but I found a great company.
