Sure, Snafu. You can get a lot of advice here. There a lot of informative posts scattered about. Take care of yourself, eat well, get good sleep, maybe some exercise, and focus on everything you can during the classroom startup. Once you get your permit and drive, take it easy, don't rush, and keep your eyes moving. Read EVERY SIGN. Look down the road. No problem, you'll be a driver and making a good living before next Spring! Take care of your equipment, and keep your paper clean. Best to you.

 

Pay attention to what is told. DO NOT be late for the bus, mini van or whatever that picks you up at the motel and shuttles you to the terminal. Do not talk in class, nor fall asleep in class.
I never went to Prime, but one time at a company I DID go to, we were told, "you paid for your schooling, if you fell asleep in class there, it was YOUR money". "YOU fall asleep here, it's OUR MONEY, and you're GOING HOME"!

Keep in touch with your Fleet Manager, you should talk at least once a week during training. He's the closest thing there is to a supervisor in all of this. Not everyone is cut out to be a CDL instructor or trainer, and the only way your FM knows of any of this is your feedback on how things are going.

 

Just remind your trainer if it gets to that point. Nothing wrong with that. I'm 42 and a recently retired disabled Army Vet and I still have about 2 more weeks of TNT before upgrading. My trainer is not the sharpest tool and thought he was dealing with a 20 yr old kid with no experience in life. So I had to remind him of that and also had to let him know a couple of other things. So he calmed down a lot.

 

Yep... but there were those priceless moments when you get to take the little ######## down a peg or two.
