Anyone with Watkins Shepard East Coast? Preferably Hickory, NC. Doing alot of research and have pretty much decided to go with this company. School and employment. Just wondering about miles and type of freight hauled.

I'm scheduled to start their 10 day prientation on 7/9 and so far my experince with them has been terrific! From what I hear they have plenty of miles available and some good incentives that could get you some extra $$ per mile. Not sure what they haul but I know locally they have mostly furniture accounts. I also hear they are like 90% drop and hook.

Danc is the resident expert on this company. He has pretty much sold me and my husband on it. I'm sure he will weigh in and help you out!

Sincere thanks for your quick reply. Yea I have read quite a few of danc's posts. He and others seem to be well pleased with the company. If all goes as planned, I should be going for the June timeframe.

:p We just picked up a new account in that area. Expect lots of miles, most of it northeast, coming out of Hickory.

Teams will do the western runs. With some going to solos.

    Hey Danc,
I appreciate it. Mostly furniture outbound I'm assuming. Which I have no problem with. Even the tailgating is alright with me. Yea, I'll lug it to the back for that extra pay. No problem. Getting out West when I can would be great too.

Yup it's furniture. LTL for the most part too I am assuming. aka multi-stop. If you intend to go regional, buy yourself a dolly. And strap it to the back of your cab.

Oh, and you're going to get out west if you go OTR. Then you'll be screaming to come back east LOL.

Once you get in the "system" they can run you for weeks on end, in a circle, out west.

I'll be OTR. Get some good miles and experience under my belt. Maybe some day do the regional thing. I put the dolly on my list. Thanks much for the info.

I prefer it. Same or better money than OTR. More hometime.
