I see some companies like this one, http://www.perkcompanies.com/ and he is 100% owner operator and is only paying his guys 65% linehaul. (according to an ad I saw)

I have been on the phone countless times during the last 5 years when I was brokering and an owner op/ poor dispatcher would shoot me a price that was sometimes 1000-1500 under market. I know the market and know how to get good money in loads.

It sounds like you have your mind made up to move forward. Every company starts small. Most carriers started with a single truck.
