All of the above, but primarily cost savings. That's why you're starting at 43-CPM instead of 30-CPM.

n3ss... thanks for the reply... do you currently work for or have you worked for Prime? (your profile on the left says "wannaBe") Are you an OTR tucker? Not trying to be snide, just checking the validity of the source.

If anyone here who currently works with Prime can answer...

Are the recruiters out of the office for the holidays until Monday?

What he posted is correct, you're going to be in a LW for awhile on the company side in reefer division. Don't get any ideas about leasing a condo out of training. That's a really bad plan.

Wouldn't surprise me if they got some time off. Contrary to supertrucker opinion, Prime isn't a sweatshop.

    n3ss Thanks this.

I'll forever be a wanna-be; but I drove for Prime from January til December. I had an opportunity at home I couldn't pass up and left Prime for that. I'm now home every night, and my office is about a half mile from my apartment.

I do miss driving though, i have to say. Even Pennsylvania, which I generally hated with a passion. I'll say this, though: I would go back to Prime if I were going to start driving again. I had a great experience and would be lying if I said otherwise.

I'm glad the recruiters got some time off. I'm sure they work hard and deserve it.

ns33 & ironpony... please understand, I only wanted to be sure the info was accurate and correct. Didn't mean to sound demeaning or anything... please forgive me if I came off that way...

So... I guess I should just resign my claustrophobic self to a smaller unit....

Having been a safety rep/trainer in the oil/gas industry, I can totally understand the slower speeds for safety and economy. The only thing I think I may have issue with is not being able to put more miles behind me in an 11 hr day. I go to work to make as much money as I possibly can in the time I have, go home, and do it all again and make more money... rinse, repeat.....

I can do the math but how many niles are current co.drivers making?

Also, I assume Prime pays for ALL fuel, maintenance, tires, & repairs... is that correct?

I have no desire to lease.

Prime does indeed pay for all fuel/maintenance/tires/repairs, there may be a rare situation where you have to buy fuel or something, but Prime would reimburse you if it ever came to it. \

You could always pull a flatbed and get the slightly less claustrophobic unit... worth it, to me.

Don't forget the Denver terminal, and many instructors can have you back in the two week minimum.

The Denver "terminal". A drop lot with a triple wide! At least Duke and Decatur have shops.
