It's not really the climate you have to worry about it's the beating it will take in the truck. It gets rough in the cab on some of these harsh roads and construction zones. I would buy a secondary cheap acoustic and bring that instead. BTW I play guitar and plan on getting a cheap one that will be ok to take with me.

Snorelord is right, get yourself a cheaper (though not THAT cheap) "beater". I got myself a pretty nice Takamine G Series Jumbo to use when playing out with my bar band (we play some rough joints), and it'll be coming on the road with me as well, once I'm on the road. You can get a very serviceable guitar for less than $500 these days (though the Tak does not measure up to my Gibson... :>

    Things you will need:

-extra strings, at least two sets, and extra B and e strings if you tend to snap those.
-Hardshell case. Honestly, they're really not that much, and if you get a good one, it'll take care of the road bumps (strap it onto your bunk too, for some extra shock absorption)
    -Lastly, one of these:

That will keep your axe nice and humid, which will protect you from the rapid changes in climate and humidity, so long as you keep the humidifier filled (easy to do, it comes with a syringe) and are diligent about putting the guitar away in the case when not in use.

Coolness, I have a beater Tak as well (G-240), there was no way i was gonna take my Martin out on the road.

I have a good hard case to put it in, i was mostly concerned about the humidity changes that it would be goin through, i know that is pretty tuff on em.
Thanks for the advice though, i dont know WHAT i would do if i didnt have one to hammer on to unwind at the end of the day.

Grab a beater. $100 Jay jr., with pick up built in is what I travel with. Had it for four years in and out of my car trunk, too close to bonfires and it still holds its tuneing for weeks. If you must take a beauty with you than make sure you have a snug case and lay it flat. I also do recording on the go. You can get some very nice units for a few hundo now. Grab a Sure mic.. and a drum machine and your a one man truck drivin band. Careful for high and low altitudes. If you expect to go thru the Mt's open the case at least a crack. ROCK ON Oooooyeah.

I have an acoustic with me. Just a cheap Fender package deal. It stays on my bunk during the day and sits in the passenger seat at night. Grab a folding camp chair and find yourself a quiet, grassy corner of a rest area or wayside and it can be a great relaxing finish to a day. I think it'd be cool to find other drivers to sit around and jam with.

    that sounds way cool..

Though I had this image flash though my head of 4-8 sweaty guys out there on the grass with "50,000 watts of power, and it's screaming 'overload'", head banging through the acid and speed metal greats.

    I can dream, can't I?

Sounds wicked, as long as we can use your inverter. I really don't think Roehl would like my explanation as to why I burned the alternator on my truck up... :biggrin_25520:
