I hate these types of comments. The kids get nothing? Seriously? They have a home right? water, electricity, phone, school lunches. ... let's say your wife's expense to provide these things for her and your 2 kids is $2000 a month divided by 3.... $666 each let's say your wife is responsible for providing your kids half that's still $700 a month for 2 kids before health care, clothing, extra curricular activities, school supplies, hair cuts, Co pays, etc. Just the groceries that include soap, toiletries, and food they eat when not in school would be another $200 just for his half for 2 kids.

Then you complain about buying them food and clothing (which is your parental responsibility) should Mom pack you groceries so the kids can eat along with their other things when they visit Dad? Or do your truck driving friends buy all their food and show up with a Costco load of bulk items so they are set for a year?

I still say that the most equitable child support solution is to have BOTH parents pay real money (cash) into a fund that is administered by the court system. Each month, the custodial parent will receive payment from the fund to cover the kids' portion of the living expenses incurred by the custodial parent, supported by receipts. In support of the 'best interests of the children' doctrine pushed by child advocates, the non-custodial parent would also be entitled to reimbursement from the fund to cover reasonable expenses incurred during visitation, to ease any financial barriers to visitation by the non custodial parent. Any funds left over at the end of the support term would be available to the child for post secondary education purposes. Such an arrangement would solve a lot of problems, and would put both parents on the hook for contributing hard cash rather than giving the custodial parent an additional revenue stream.

Gasp! Perhaps, and I'm really going out on a limb here... IF, the mother in question didn't have a new car, go on a cruise(without the kids but with a serious freeloader) AND also take a trip to the Caribbean for a week long booze cruise. The kids might have some money for food and clothes.... and never have to live on 79cent pot pies...

Bottom line IS the money should be for the kids, NOT to subsidize party time, for mom and her boy toy.

He's not griping about paying child support. He's griping about the company not withholding taxes.
