Thanks for your interest in the show. I think most of the responses about SiriusXM have been accurate. The comment about me pushing some sort of additive is false, the person who posted that is obviously ignorant of my show. I've never recommended any additives to make anything run better. I have spoken out against additives many times. I have however recommended using Lucas oil additive, only in the case of engine problems such as fuel dilution, or coolant intrusion indicated by oil analysis. Lucas will help protect an engine for the short term in those cases. We proven it many times. I have also recommended Lucas for an old engine with worn liners and rings, just to buy some time before and inframe is needed.

I've also invited any of the haters and naysayers to join me on my show and prove me wrong. I've made this offer many times and I'll make it again here.

ANYONE who disagrees with me and wants to come on my show can join me as a co-host, we'll take turns answering whatever question the caller has. Each person gets a shot at answering the question first then the other gets to respond with his answer and then we switch and so on. Nobody has ever taken me up on the offer.

The drivers and the host(s) are missing an opportunity when it comes to challenging questions and conversation. Shame on Road Dog, for the lack of trying to make the industry better. The host(s) try to make issues from none issues and prey on the lack of knowledge displayed by the drivers who call in. Its sad, its an embarrassment to listen to at times. It is not a forum that I would recommend for anyone outside of the industry to frequent in order to improve our image as intelligent, progressive business professionals. The only usefull knowledge that I have gathered are from Rick Gobel? NASTC And Kevin Rutherford. Driver 1978, O/O 1980, ICC MC 262265 1993. Do you have 20 years of getting good at doing it wrong?

These guys that think Kevin Rutherford is a snake oil salesman...are you the kinda ####### runnin out in the left lane at 80 MPH all day thinkin yer givin our industry a better image? Or are you the Swift driver who parks at the fuel island to get a shower with 10 empty spaces in front of you? Gotta be one of the 2. How many of you can realistically prove that you are doing better by going against Kevin's advise and recommendations? I am not associated with Sirius or Kevin Rutherford at all, other then attending his highly renowned CMC twice, and again next year, but I have made a drastic improvement on my bottom line since listening to his show. Its about the only time I even turn my radio on anymore, the rest of the day Im quite content to just listen to the truck goin down the road... One more thing...I bet you all drive large cars, with 800 hp at the wheels, pulling heavy in the mountains n get 8+ MPG....right? LOL

First of all, a large pool of drivers are trash and would not have work if it wasn't for trucking. The industry is hurting for drivers that they will take just about anyone from anywhere. Sure, some of those people calling in to JTS aren't that bright normally, but it's their way of getting down the road.

If you are a little smarter you listen to Kevin Rutherford. There are plenty of immigrant truckers that got into business following Kevin's business model of buying a junky truck for 2k-20k and putting it to work. If you are smart enough to understand, Kevin is not selling additives. In fact he is against them for the most part. He does commercials because it pays the bill. Howard Stern does live reads of stuff that meaning nothing to him. That's what broadcasting involves. I'm not sure about going 200k miles before changing oil but I learned about oil analysis and charge air coolers from his show. His show has some great information to be used where it makes sense in your business.

While i don't agree with some of his ideas, and he is collecting valuable information from the guys using his fuel and profit gauges, when you weigh the good and bad, Kevin's is the best show and should be two hours long.

As for the Sirius hook up, you could go to auxiliary in the front to start with. Once you see how enjoyable Sirius can be, hook it up in the back of the radio with the direct to fm box they have. Very easy to do! Cleaner install.

If Kevin gave solid advice without trying to sell me on the newest oil additive or whatever else he's hawking, or his books, I wouldn't call him a snake oil salesman. The fact that his entire show is an unapologetic, unabashed sales pitch is why I call him what I do.

I have never purchased anything from him. He gives plenty of free advice. More than most. Are you frustrated after 13 years? Or is it because of your 13 years you think you are doing it right? It took me 30 before the light went off. Try it, what do you have to loose. You have a more proffitable business to gain, and all that entails.

I know I'm doing it right. I don't need to be told that by a radio host.

in the seven years I've been listening I think I've heard him say a trillion times that he thinks oil additives are garbage.

Who and what do you measure your results? You are always welcome to share you results on Business and Beyond, or this forum! I for one am always hoping and working to learn more. Some things are easier said than done. For that we need to be shown.
