Thanks for the info. With the better benefits it wouldn't be too much of a pay cut starting out. I'll look into it further.

You're welcome, sir. Like I said, this pay scale is common in LTL. If you can't get hired at the post office (it's a hard job to get), you can go to companies like UPS, FedEx Freight, SAIA, Pitt Ohio, YRC and a few others to be on a similar payscale.

$1200 isnt bad for someone who wants to be home more or does not have a lot of experience, its close to what I make right now and I work 5 days a week and I can go home every night and if I break it down I average around $20 a hour. Its fine for me at least for now since I get to see my family a lot more often...

Pardon me , my bad , should have made myself more clear. my apologies.... With 33 years seniority I had and I neglected to take-out the 6 weeks of vacation , sick time ( 1/2 a day a month = 6 days ) then 6 personal days , 4 discretionary holidays , my birthday , Veterans day , Thanksgiving , Christmas , New Years day......lets see....counting a week of vacation as 6 days ( since no driver worked on Sat's...)36 days+6 days+6 days +4 days+5 days = 57 days...Divide that by 4 weeks in a month you come -up with 14.25 weeks I didn't work....I was paid for those , but they weren't figured in with or considered as earnings / wages....they were benefits , my total pay / wages came to around 72,000 ....my total compensation , all those weeks figured in ( which is the way most companies figure compensation / wages BTW) was just over 90,000 a year ...again my apologies.

I make $657 a week gross before OT which I get about 40 hours per month. I get 17.33 hours per month off, pay $600 a month in insurance, pay into a pension plan at 6%, so all combined I bring home between $1800 to $2100 a month depending on the amount of OT I put in..Am I getting ripped off?

So you make $16.43 Per hour? Depends on what you are doing if that is good or not.

Yes, it comes to $16.43 and then time and a half after 40 per week..And no the insurance blows, but I work 2 days on 12.25 hours each, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 on, then 3 off..171 hours before OT. BTW, I'm not a trucker, I'm a Correctional Sergeant at a Max prison, then within that I work the SHU..Lots of fires and uses of force..Thinking about trucking still...

in that case I think you are being screwed. Would have to pay me a LOT more to deal with those people. Seems like a lot of stress and danger for that amount of money. you can make the same or more starting pay to drive locally, and go up from there.
