It's a 1990 40ft long trailer home, I've heard moving older trailers can easily damage them but what other reasons would make it difficult? distance is 25 miles and no tight turns.

Well, is it a trailer or a manufactured home? If it's got axels and a solid frame theoretically it could have its wheels put back on and be hitched back up and pulled down the road. If it's a manufactured home that was delivered on a flatbed, the driving the 25 miles is gonna be the easy part.

If its a single wide you will have to pay to have blocks taken down, then its up to crew to watch for trees along road and driveway drain pipes turning into your home site.

a manufactured home is a home built on a frame with removable axles and possibly tongue. it became the norm to remove axles and the tongue, but being a 1990 model it probably still has the axles and tongue on it.

the home never leaves the frame.

a modular home is hauled on a modular carrier and lag bolted to the frame , once on site , the box is lifted off the carrier with a crane and placed on a foundation.

the roof is built on a hinge , its then raised and so on, I have done many 4 section 2 story mods, and even did a 12 section modular once.

I was licensed to set up manufactured home sin 6 states and transported as far west as Wyoming and Utah.

its not as easy as it it may seem, permits are often involved and taxes paid when moving a mobile or manufactured home. its best to get someone who knows what he doing and licensed and insured.

I made my best money when somebody tried to move one themselves and THEN called me. to put it mildly, I had em by the sack and charged accordingly.

how ya planning to move it??

Neighbor bought a 14x70 when he was first married. We pulled the skirt put good axels/tires on it. Hooked up a farm tractor an pulled it 8 miles in a snow storm in the middle of the night. No video but what a memory. It went fine no harm no foul. Sometimes it truly is best to ask forgiveness rather then permission. They lived in it until kids came into the picture. Then replaced it with a double wide.

in ga, you can legally move and set up your own home, as long as it meets the state codes for tiedowns and blocking
