You need to have the ability to print or fax upon request. We use Qualcomm, so I can just fax it to whoever upon request.

I run Canada and the US, as far as I know you have to have signed 14 days of Canada, and 7 for the US Printed out ahead of time. So I sign and print each day.flood Thanks this.

I think you're right, but I keep printing them since it's not a big deal. I also recall there no longer being a requirement to sign them in ink (versus an electronic signature applied in a logbook app). I still do that too. I'll be the one getting inspected by Officer Fife who didn't get the memo.
I keep them in a stack in my office at home. When I get ready to leave, I take the ones older than 7 days and put them in my stack and that's my carrier file. 7 days or less go back in my briefcase.flood Thanks this. -
ibgot a eld requirement not met. failed to print and sign yesterdays log. to which I printed upon ask which also contains my digital signature.
I only have to sign the dvir. which last I heard. was no longer required either.
I hate powering up the printer everyday. I usually print on the weekend when I'm home. never been asked for my logs. just show computer screen. -
they changed the guidance in july, if you have the ability to digitally sign, .http://fmcsa.federalregisterwatch.com/a/2014/July-10/2014-15951/1

no, that's not correct. we aren't talking anything about qualcomm here

I print them to have a paper record for the irs per diem deduction in case the laptop goes nuts, and besides I have to send in to the company I am leased with
and for officer fife I simply open the laptop , go to the saved link and let him read the memo -
It wasn't spspecified what kind of elog. I was just saying what I know. -
i don't think it matters what device you use. they're all considered eld's. except for actual paper. the rules are all the same.
thanks for the link, skateboard. looks like officer fife is in the wrong.
