I want to find consistent freight before I go in head first. Just wondering if any owner ops out there run locally in southwest Virginia (Christiansburg, area.) and would help me out by pointing me in the right direction. I know there are local loads out there, but who should I be talking to in order to find consistent local loads? Companies, loadboards, brokers to work with? I would appreciate any replies from experienced people. Thank you.
And Please no flack over this. I am only trying to be fully prepared. Thanks guys.

Not many people will give out info like that to a competitor. Consider anyone that does have this information earned it the hard way unless they learned from a father or uncle. You can either make contacts direct with small local area shippers or dive in headlong on loadboards and make connections there. Or a combination of both. These things don't happen overnight. Where you're talking about it ought to be attainable with a box or open deck.

Virginia is tough for outbound freight unless you wanna go to the Northeast. If i was you I would just work the load boards from the Greensboro, Charlotte, Winston Salem area in NC.

Thanks guys. Will definitely take your advice. I appreciate it. Rollin Coal, hawkjr, any particular loadboards you guys would recommend. I have read that internet truckstop is pretty good. Is there any others you prefer? Any one in particular that may do better in this area? or is that a dumb question?

ITS is ok as far as "pay" loadboards. CHR is the best free one and Landstar Broker is also another good free one.
