The 2015 laminated one is what I talked my mom into getting me for christmas this year, hah. I'm not out on the road yet but the only thing I'll say is that the laminated atlas does seem kind of heavy and cumbersome. I'm sure in practice though it's not so bad.

Paper is just fine. You won't be using it enough to tear the pages. If you keep a tight lid on your pee bottles you don't have to worry about it getting wet. If you don't use your map like it's an adult magazine. Your pages won't stick together.

Laminated,is sturdier.corners don't curl up and fold up on you...doesn't tear loose of the spiral as easy as paper...

Just wait until a pigeon takes a dump on it through the window at a covered dock. Rats with wings!

Exactly!!! I find the laminated one is very helpful when planning a long route, BUT make sure you're using a Dry Erase marker... else the permanent type of ink will be a lot harder to wipe off. Plus, it's tax deductable... yes indeed, it's tax deductable!

I used Streets & Trips (w/GPSr) for navigation so the paper RMMCA worked fine for me for checking restricted routes, etc. Smaller, lighter, gonna buy a new one every year anyway.

No. Paper has always been just fine for me. I got a deal in 2007 on a 2006 Atlas...and still have the 06' in pretty good condition. Just take care of it.
