Hey all,
I applied to Schneider Tanker in Houston. I'll be relocating from out of state. They require a Texas license. If I show up at orientation with an out of state license, will that get me booted? I will change it but it will take time to establish residency and the cost with endorsements and the new DOT card are hard to cover until I start working. I was thinking I'd temporarily use my fathers address in Dallas to get the license, but that is outside of the hiring area and could cause problems. Any advice? I'm really looking forward to starting my driving career with Schneider Tanker and don't want to screw up this opportunity.

Why would the state of your licsense matter? I know location of where you live does.
Have you already got a place in Tx? If so, take proof that you've moved. When they ask for your licsense let them know you're in the process of changing but haven't done so yet. They might give you a time frame to meet and have your new one by, but if you take proof then I doubt they'd boot you.doggy style Thanks this. -
Forgot to say happy new year!
Can you park your car at the terminal while out driving? -
Me personally? No, but that's because I drive on a dedicated account where we park our tractors about 20 miles away.
If I had to, I could though. -
Schneider should give you time to acquire a Texas CDL. And will do what they can to help you get one.
I worked out of West Memphis for a year on my Nevada licence with only an occasional reminder from Schneider to change it.
Texas, like NV, TN, WA, etc., does not have a state income tax.
So, dependent upon your current residency, you could collect a bigger paycheck.
And yes, there is personal vehicle parking in Houston.doggy style Thanks this. -
I just recently moved to a new state for a job and had ~30 days to change my license over. Not sure if it will matter to Schneider so long as you are legal to drive, thats really their big concern. When you do transfer your license make sure you have the endorsements you need (the X should cover tank+hazmat). When I moved I had to wait for finger prints to come back for my hazmat which took up about 3 weeks of my 30 days, so I had to come home and scramble to get my temporary. Texas may be different though and they may just transfer all endorsements over straight away.

Thx for the replies everybody. Guess I'll see how it plays out when I get there. Maybe look for a new girlfriend in the area and use her address...would probably end up costing more than getting my own place lol.
