Heh, I'm not butthurt at all. I just wanted to throw out there that as a guy on a dedicated regional account, I am a very happy camper. But seriously, getting me home to Memphis hasn't been a problem at all. I've even had a couple of pass-throughs before I went dedicated.

I am starting on 2/2/2015. One question was for my CDL learners permit, Should I or do I need to get the DOT physical to get the permit? I was planning on getting it in about 2 weeks, but if it is not needed for the permit and would have to go through the doctor at Prime then it would be a waste. When I arrive on the 2/1/14, I am wanting to spend as much available time learning so that I can pass everything the first time. I believe that will have my permit before I arrive, and I have been studying online videos of pretrip inspections including the air brake test and feeling pretty good about it. Just need some hands on. I have pulled trailers a lot, just not Semi trucks, Will it be hard to adapt over or just start from scratch again. Thanks.

Ofcourse in AZ you have to have your med card to take the permit test so we get to do it twice

You've pulled trailers before... but not semis. Pickups and goose-neck trailers?

If the OP is going to get his permit before coming to PSD, he'll be taking a physical before he heads out to Springfield.

Yes, a lot of Boat trailers, fished tournaments for 15 years. Also have a camper that I pull around these days. I know the reaction time will be different.

Then you have a little experience, but no knowledge and zero experience with large commercial vehicles. Come in with an open mind, and a desire to learn. If you try to drive a semi like you would a pickup and a boat, you're headed for a serious accident.

In order for you to get u r permit, u must have a DOT physical but remember if u get u r permit with physical before you arrive give u r self time to receive the hard copy which takes about 10 days to get. If you don't then u have to go home to get it.

Also when u get to Prime you need a pre employment physical.
what I would suggest is that you take the tests but forego the physical. When you get to Prime all you will have to do is go get your permit from DMV with your physical from Prime.

also if you get u r.permit at Prime and something happens and you can't finish with a cdl. Know u r Individual state laws as to if you permit is transferable. CDL address would be in most states but in some states the Permit is not transferable from MO to ?

Do your homework. It is easier for you at Prime during orientation if you have your permit tests passed first.
I hope this helps. Also if you use a sleep apnea machine u must must bring it with a up to date and at least 30 days of readings from your SD card.
If not you will be sent home until you get it. Also medication that is not allowed on the truck that are.prescribed that have to do with helping you sleep you will be sent home if it is in your system. Until it is not in your system
. These are all things that can hold u up.
