I just joined today because I am seriously thinking about becoming a Truck Driver (I capitalize both Truck Driver and Bacon because they both deserve that kind of respect)
Currently I am looking into going to Celadon Trucking though their school in Indianapolis IN.
I noticed there are a lot of various practice tests here on this site (which is AWESOME btw). Can someone point me to some good quality, free study guides?
The more the better, as I want to know everything for every test before I even set foot at the school so I can concentrate on the driving part.
Also I have read quite a bit of great reviews about Celadon and their school here, but those reviews are a little old. Has Celadon changed or are they still a great place to go to?
If anyone can give me some advice and/or pointers about these things it would be appreciated. (or if you have any other pointers or things that you wish you knew before getting into trucking)
Thanks in advance and have a great day.
HELLLLLLLO Everyone!!!!! (And Happy New Year to you all)

Study the "CDL Practice Tests" on this forum and that's pretty much all you need. There's a bunch of information on Utube from what others have posted. Get the hazmat endorsement also.
Celadon is as good a place as any to get started for trucking company training. They now have 4 schools in 4 different states. Ask for the one in Laredo, Texas and get out the the nasty winter weather.
Welcome to trucking; it's a great career.

First of all, Thank you for your reply.
I do plan on getting as many endorsements as I can possibly get (plus I plan on getting a Passport if making runs to Canada are worth the money. While getting out of the weather does sound good to me, I will have to learn to drive in it anyway. Plus I am about 4 hours away from their Indianapolis School. So I will probably end up going there (unless it just completely sucks) But so far everything I have heard says Celadon is a good place to start.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!Chinatown Thanks this. -
If you have the cash, get a TWIC card also. Looks good on job applications if you decide to later leave Celadon. TWIC card is for entry to sea ports, military bases, chemical plants. Google for nearest TWIC office.
Drive safely!
P.S. : take a sleeping bag and pillow vs. sheets, to orientation. Much easier to use in the truck while with a trainer. Not allowed on a top bunk when the truck is moving and the trainer won't want you sleeping on his bedding. -
Hey what's up road warriors, just wondering which one is better to start with
celadon or central refegerated. Thanks -
I personally have never worked for neither one, but if you read through all the posts Central is a terrible company. Also, it would help if you posted your location. That way you will get a great deal of input from a great deal of experience and knowledge on this website. (Sort through the negativity)

Thanks again for the info. I will be looking into getting the TWIC card asap. I have got a TON of questions for the recruiter before I get ready to go. Hopefully I will get some of them answered here.
Again thanks for the help.
