Alberta oilfield driving jobs

Some Americans just figure they can hop the border and go to work like the Mexicans do. lol

 

Yup until you complete that CIC he's talking about you won't even make it across the border legally

 

Hey all, just thought I'd give an update after my first few months in Alberta. After two weeks of getting my tickets and orientations, I was up to full pay. Worked for month at full wages and grossed $18,000. Another guy that started after me was over 20k and hadn't quite finished his first full month after training. I'd be out for days at a time, usually a day off a week. Funny hours sometimes, but mostly only actually worked 4-5hrs a day, so lots of downtime. I was quite enjoying it buy when I was hired, my boss at completely misled me about time-off. It's a 24/7 on call job with no scheduled time off at all, but he said I could take a week off every 4-5 weeks to go home, as long as I gave a bit of notice. After the first month, I could tell I was going to have to fight for it. I did get time off for the holidays, but they kept changing their mind about when I needed to come back and put no effort into communication, so I finally put my foot down and they just flat out fired me and even going through HR and explaining the situation, my appeal was denied. Of course with money like that, I'd have never put my foot down if I thought my boss would just shut me down like that. Unfortunate that I was lied to. If they'd let me get a month into it before telling me outright that they'd lied and I wouldn't be sticking around, I probably would've stayed until break-up, but instead I got backed into a corner and then when I stood up to it, my boss must've felt like he was in a corner. ###### lucky really, but anyways, I'm back home looking for another gig now. I'm gonna leave the town and type of trucking out of the picture for now, because it seems like there are actually very few companies that did what they did, and I'd like to get back into it if I can. The strangest thing is that the company was pretty decent to work for otherwise, but I'd heard my boss had made false promises to people before, and I guess the company will just have to learn the hard way. Four of us hired since beginning of November and there's only one left now.

Anyways, I've got my tickets now and I know my way around the area and can say I have some oil + gas experience, so I don't think it'll be hard to find something else, but I sure feel like I ripped up the golden ticket there. Feeling like it'll be pretty unlikely to find something that paid that much for such a small amount of effort.

Give up lol your not getting a job in Alberta let alone getting in the country. Didn't you see the abouve posts?

 

dude, try Texas or North Dakota. take advice

 

Dye your hair black, grow braids, tan really dark and buy yourself a treaty card somewhere. Otherwise you are just plain out of luck

 

Why is it so hard to work there. I knew people who got over there to work as laborers a while ago from the states

 

They've explained mutliple times why your situation doesnt allow you to cross the border to work. Take what people are saying and look into Texas and North Dakota. Alberta isn't an option for you.
