You may be correct. I've never seen a big cam 4 stc less than 365hp. n14 mechanical engines used stc system in the lower power ratings. A 1990 engine would likely be a big cam 4 88nt model not an n14

Good info guys! I thank I have seen this before and remembered why. Some cummings had duel governors, a VSG, variable speed governor, and a CSG, constant speed governor. The duel governor pump has an additional hump on the top rear of the pump which can be cable or air operated. These are normally used on trucks with PTO driven equipment to run the engine at the correct speed for the equipment. A genus had these connected to the high side air shift lines to use it as a road speed governor. Disable it for happy motoring, I hope that is your easily fixed problem.

well so that this wont go on any longer here im going to need to get back to you guys. I have the engine on the truck taken apart as it sprung a knock, which appeared to be a dead piston with a leaky sleeve seems it was repaired a couple months before I got truck as gaskets look pretty new. it hadn't been running like that I had pulled a load on Monday and when I was going up a slight incline at about 60mph truck made a weird rattling/gargling sound as it was pulling up hill, I finished trip and payed it no mind till I got off at customer and heard a knock but on the expressway it was not AS audible. Well its apart now looks like it will be getting a complete inframe, 3 reconned heads and have the block decked. oh well.... my bud told me that the valves weren't fully seated whats up with this? could it be they hit the piston? WTF? tomorrow morning I will be heading over early to get this truck running he told me he could have me up and running by midweek next week, plus I lucked in as he had no other major jobs in the shop to have done. hopefully this will be the key to why this thing didn't want to pull? valves not closing to me on GAS vehicles means no boost will be held..... crap it should run like a raped ape with no BLOWBY or somke will just some black smoke. Next will be a 13spd if I can find one.

lets see what happens guys I will keep you posted.

16 to2200 is where the old ntc will run, no ecm means you need more rpm to make power

You still haven't mentioned a CPL number, if it is an 840 then it either has to have all the matching parts put back in it for that CPL or everything including the cam needs changed.

it is pretty simple, every thing must match the original parts, everything in that CPL is unique to that engine including injectors
