Not too sure on that. I don't sleep in the truck so don't run it for bunk heat. It does have a low voltage cut off so it doesn't kill the batteries completely.
Espar...vs...wabasto... Coolent heaters is one better...trouble free years?

I also have a D5 Hydronic on a 05' Binder 9900i but am having issues with it. It fires up good and the timer works and the motor fires up nice in frigid Canadian winter mornings at 330am but my coolant is only about 130F, or sometimes still sitting dead at 120F, Anyone have any thoughts as to what could be the problem?

I have have no issues with my webasto. Saves money from idling when sleeping.

From what I read the d5 is doing what it's supposed to do...I think the reason it doesn't heat the same temp all time is that it made to raise the temp 100 degrees higher the the out side temerity....so if it's zero out coolant would be 100 degrees... not positive but I think so...hope this helps...how old is your d5.... My friend had it on his 2014 prostar and Cascadia. Now he drives 2015 prostar with tripac on it.

I have espars in 3 of my trucks and wabasto in 1. The wabasto has never given me a headache whereas I want to smash every espar I have. They seem to be very finicky when it -15 or colder (celcius) which is all winter here.
Eberspacher is the one I have on my pete and I absolutely love the timer on it. Instead of having to set it each night I can set it to run mon-Fri or sun-mon and I like that.Foxcover Thanks this. -
I used to think mine wasn't working right because the temp needle wasn't going up but then I realized the whole point isn't to warm the engine but to just thaw it enough to help start in the Canadian artic tundra.
If your truck doesn't struggle real bad to start when it's -30 then it's working fine. Good way to test is to not use it one morning and see how bad your truck doesn't want to start...... no difference then you know you've got a issue.Freightshaker613 and Cowpie1 Thank this. -
^^^ Isn't it refreshing to read a dose of good, common sense now and then!
