The equipment is your load locks and crap if you're a reefer driver. If you're flatbed it's all your stuff. Tarps, straps, chains, binders, exc. I just paid ask mine off a few months back. It totaled 3700 but you can take it with you when you leave or sell it back to prime.

Everyone, including the company guys, have certain required items to be on the truck before they can be dispatched. Everyone must have the Colorado required minimum chain set, and you're also going to need a Rand McNally Motor Carrier Atlas, trailer lock and air brake cuff set, and a tire pressure gage. Reefer guys need a pulp thermometer, and four load locks. Flatbed guys need their securement equipment. There's a lot of other things that are useful like a CB, but that aren't required.

At Prime, this is your property... you'll buy it, and it can be taken out of your settlements in payments but you'll need to arrange that with your FM. Since its yours, you can keep it or sell it back if you leave. I've priced the locks, and you're getting over a 50% discount compared to what you'd pay outside of the company store. It's my opinion that Prime isn't making anything off of this stuff, but I have no way of knowing this.

Many companies provide this equipment to their employees, and you'll hear the trolls calling Prime down for asking their folks to buy this stuff. The logic behind this is that if you have some skin in the game, your equipment won't be sold at the truck stop like you'll hear other carriers employees doing. The scam is they sell it, pocket the money and go back to their carrier claiming it was lost or stolen. It cuts way down on the amount of pilfered equipment Prime deals with.

They will pay you as much as it would cost them for your bus ticket.

When you test for your license? i think if you fail enough times sure.

pre-trip is not as difficult as you might think it is, though.

Hey guys need your advice here....... I last spoke with my recruiter, prior to the xmas holidays, the 22nd or 23rd. I had previously told him that I was interested in attending orientation on the 19th, but on this particular occasion he wanted to know if I could start orientation on the 5th, but I told him I would prefer the 19th as per our last discussion. He said he would need to re-run my DMV report because it was only good for 30 days, said no problem as long as nothing has changed, and it has not. And stated that he would be in contact with me after the first of the year.

So, in the interim I have made plans to rent my house, turned down some contract work, etc; all believing that I will be starting on the 19th.

Fast forward to Monday, 5th, I sent him an email just stating that I am touching base with him to see if everything is still good to go. Tuesday, I follow up with a voicemail. Wednesday another email. Thursday another voicemail. Zero responses.

Previously, I had spoken to him just 2 times. I never asked him any questions concerning Prime; I had discovered all my info from their website, this forum, and communications with other drivers on here and on facebook. So, I don't think that I have been extremely needy or time consuming. But, am I way out of line to think he could spend the 30 seconds to respond to me? Now, I have seen here on another thread that the 19th class is full and I am worrying that he didn't get me signed up for the 19th and I am going to be homeless for a week. I have got funds to go stay in a hotel for a week but come on; that's not what I had hoped to do, and I am not blaming anyone, I made all my choices freely and independently........

I guess my question is..... should I attempt to go over his head or seek another recruiter??? My fear is that by doing so that I may jeopardize my future with Prime, ie my application now getting "lost" or that I all of a sudden am no longer "qualified" to work for them.

Thanks in advance for you advice!!!!!!

Stop with the voice mail and email.

I agree with the guy above. Sit on hold and talk to him. If that don't after another day or so I'd call the recruiting department and see if someone could quickly check on the status of your application and start dates.

That's not really an option; the rings once and either goes to his voicemail or plays the message "this mailbox is full.....". I will send an email and leave a voice mail now, if by 2pm today I don't get a response I will call the main recruiting phone number and explain my situation and see what that gets me. Thanks for your replies.
