what is the best reefer trailer and why?

I never pulled a wabash reefer but I have pulled tons of there dry vans and I find them to be built very cheaply

 

This would be an easy mod that a person could do for him/her self. Radio Shack makes 12 volt led lights (in both green and red). I've used them for glow plug indicator lights on Ford Powerstroke engines (as long as the glow plug relay is on, the light is on the dash)...I digress.

Anyway, I'd wire an all-weather plug to the outside of the cab near your current electric/air connections and this would be wired to the led's in the sleeper. Then I'd open the box on the reefer with the lights and I'd tie into each light I wanted to monitor and run them to an all-weather plug (AWP) on the trailer near the glad-hand connectors. Then just build a power cord (four-wire) that plugs into the all weather connector on the cab and the all-weather connector on the trailer. Presto, monitoring lights in the sleeper! 2 radio shack 12 volt led lights: Radio Shack part # 276-011, $2.29 each
2 All Weather Plugs: Marinco builds all kinds of quality plugs or any trailer/rv supply shop would have them
1 cord (with male plugs on each end) that fit the female AWP's on the reefer and back of sleeper

 

I have a 3000 RX Utility spread axle with a Carrier Ultra. It's an older unit and it works OK. There is a 4000 series out now. I prefer a Thermo King. I have had both on different trailers but, they were spread axles. I have NO use for tandem sliders! You just need to know how to load it. I seem to find TK dealers a lot easier. I like my Utility trailers a lot. They have good wiring, insulation, a lot of cross members, and a good floor. I would be willing to say, it comes down to personal preference and, more importantly, what you can afford.

 

Any suggestions on where to look to get a hold of a used, repo'd or assume a loan on a 53' Utility trailer w/either a Carrier or Thermo King reefer unit - 2004 or newer? Appreciate any information you might be able to offer. Brand new is just out of the question at this time and looking at all options available. Thanks

 

Truck Paper online is a good place to look for trailers that are for sale.

 

The best reefer is the one parked next to my truck. Don't know why, but listening to that reefer unit kick on and off helps me sleep.

I'm trying to buy a brand new dry van trailer. I have two offers one is a 2018 vanguard for $26,900 and the other one is a 2018 wabash for almost $30,000. Does anyone know or have experience with any of those trailer or any other make your guys think will be the best choice. Thanks Drivers any help will be appreciated
