Hi truckers. Going to UT first time and I know there are ports of entry on the way (driving I-80). Different people tell me different rules about those POE. The only thing I'm sure about is they're open 24/7,right? Does any truck have to stop by, or only those who need permits for overnight/oversized loads? Thanks!

You will have to stop in if you need permits, if you don't need permits you will need to stop if they open, or even if they flag you in.
Sometimes they are closed, sometimes they open. -
Well Port of Entry in Wyoming on I80.
99.999999991% chance it will be open .
If you don't have Prepass or don't get a Green light they will want to see your IFTA and Insurance I think. -
Usually Wyoming (IME) wants to see your IFTA and your cab card (registration).Balakov100 Thanks this.

If your talking about pick up trucks, like a Chevy or ford, no they don't need to stop, but if your talking a CMV, yes you must stop if open
-
unless you got prepass. you habe to roll through ALL scales and ports that are open. utah is no different then rest of country.
andnthe sign says OPEN WHEN FLASHING. if the lights aren't flashing. don't roll through
with the rest of trucks that always do when they closed.wulfman75 Thanks this. -
Yep everyone stops if its open unless green lighted.
A few in the northwest make you take an exit go half a mile turn right check your ifta & cab card hazmat permits after you get weighed.
Might do an inspection if some blitz is on. -
When I went out that way I was just pulled onto the scale. If they want to bother you depends on company and whether or not your owner op I imagine.

Don't worry. Like others said prepare ifta and cab card in WY and you ll be ok. Tanki grayazi ne boyatsya...

Insurance, registration truck and trailer. Make sure your log book is clean. They have been known to call shippers.
