I went to the shipper a hour early hoping the load would be ready and to my surprise, it was. Interesting thing though, there was no one at the shipper, just a box with about a hundred BOLs thrown in it and I needed to dig through them all to find mine. After 10 minutes of sifting through the mess I found my bills and dropped my trailer for another SNI driver there looking for an MT and found my load around the other side of the building. I have never seen anything like that before. Anyway, I drove the 480 miles to my first stop and I'm now waiting behind the customer for a 7am delivery. I will then drive 60 miles to the second delivery and then 184 miles to my 6pm live load tomorrow evening.

Nothing really exciting today. I skirted the ice storm by about 50 miles. Lots of mist and temps in the 30s, but no ice. I'm hoping tomorrow is as good for me in regards to the weather.

Don't see that too often but there have been a few shippers I've dealt with that are like that. It's fine when stuff is there... it's when things are missing that it can be a huge pain in the *** because no one is around, lol. Start making a list of each customer you deliver to and pick up from, and make notes about drop and hook vs. live, do they have empties or are always out, etc. Eventually you'll have a nice list to look and remember which place is which on the load board, and whether or not it's worth going there again.

How are things going so far with the transition into the day-to-day stuff when it comes to dealing with SNIs way of doing things? Anything giving you trouble or confusing?

No real issues. The work flow thing is different for me, but makes sense and is pretty straight forward. I'm used to sending macros for everything that work flow does. The biggest stress is hoping the truck keeps rolling and stays healthy for a few months. The other stress is finding a load going east out of Denver that pays more than 98 cents per mile! I'm going home for a few days after I deliver in Loveland Tuesday and I'm looking at the loads for next weekend into Monday and they all seem to be beer loads mostly going west or stupid cheap beer loads going east. I'm going to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to choose my punishment hoping something a little less painful pops up. It does balance out with my 750 mile $2.25 cpm load going home, but it's still a kick in the nuts! So other than those things, I feel pretty comfortable with the program. The real test will be when I come out of the house next week to bounce around the Midwest. It will be interesting to see what I can put together. Seems most people on here run northeast, southeast, east, ect. I did see Atrucker runs out of CA. I've been out for almost two weeks now with picking up the truck and orientation, so home looks nice in two days!

Good to hear. I'm with ya on the whole "hoping the truck stays together for at least a few months" thing... that's the most nerve wracking part for me right now. You may have to take a cheap load to get out of there (never been out that way but hear that coming out of Denver is almost always cheap), but use it to get to an area with good paying freight and it averages out nice. Just make it a short run with the lightest load you can.

Midwest should be easy, it's a very strong area for SNI pretty much all year long. Shouldn't have any trouble out there.

Midwest is always busy region for Schneider I guess. Northeast also really busy but most of the drivers dont want to run. I know some people run only in Texas and some LA or OK and make pretty good money. Its your own choice thats the whole point of this program.

Left Neosha MO early this morning. Stopped in Salina, KS for fuel and lunch. Heading west on 70. Should be home tomorrow morning sometime.

Pretty much everything you ever take out of the house is going to be cheap crap. I did catch one General Mills load out of aurora when I was out there last which at least paid $1.10 and got me back into illinois. Wasn't a ridiculously heavy beer load either. Plus headed east is a downhill trip so at least you have momentum on your side lol.
