OK, Thanks.... But I will go ahead and also learn to do the paper ones as well, just so I know how to use them in case of system failure, I eventually go to another company(?), or we get hit with an EMP.... (just kidding)

What Chucktshoes said... while you're assigned to a truck you'll be logging electronically using elogs. The only times you need to log on paper is when the elog system is broken, or of you're off the truck. Check with your instructor, but I believe he's covering it on his hours since you don't have a CDL.
Yes, you WILL learn to log, but that's a subject covered in TnT. Right now you need to concentrate on learning how to drive the truck. That and pretrip are your only job during PSD... and that's quite a load. You don't need to put the cart before the horse!Shortwoman Thanks this. -
Agreed, pre trip and learnig to drive the truck are the most important curriculum during psd. But I was also led to believe that I had to keep my own set of driving logs, and not in the instructors logs. I will check w/ safety when I get there next week. Just want to make sure I am covering all my bases legally, ethically, and correctly.

The qualcom logs you and your instructor separately..but like was said don't worry about that right now it will be taken care of for you.
jbrodgers Thanks this. -
Guess that answers my question... the logs are done separately, but the instructor will enter the HOS for me.... got it! Thanks.
Will focus on the training, and deal with the business side of things later... -
You will be entering your own statuses into the QC. Here's how it will work. During PSD, any time you are driving you will be logged in as the active driver and will be recording as "driving" in the QC. Your instructor will be in the right seat and logged in as "on duty". If he isn't "on duty" then you can't be either.
If I may say so, you are stressing about non essentials right now. Relax man. Best thing you can do for yourself is to de-stress and chill out. Getting wound up about peripheral issues will only make it more difficult for you to retain what you need to pass the test. Remember, PSD is about learning how to safely operate a CMV. TnT will teach you all about the stuff you are asking about now. TnT is when you start learning how to be a truck driver. -

...what he said. Chill. Learn the pretrip, build your habits of checking mirrors, reading and remembering every road sign, getting the habit of knowing where your trailer is, and doing that all at once while you up and down shift without grinding gears. Or running into anything.
All of that has to be second nature before we teach you anything else.jbrodgers and Chucktshoes Thank this. -
Don't forget the turn signals!!!!

Did you check your mirrors in the last 30 seconds????
