Make sure wannabe truckers this is what you really want.

It takes dedication nerves of steel patience of a saint the ability to entertain yourself for hours at a time to be away your loved ones for extended periods of time. To be mistreated misguided trolled for minimal amount of money.

I myself bought into the scheme about a year ago after lie after lie I bought a tow truck and make more in two days than I did in a week with these companies. It does pay of but in due time. So best of luck to you recruits best of luck to you old farts.

Ya just don't know until you try it. It's a great career. It's a horrible choice for those that don't plan, such as the ones that take the first job offer then spend the next few years sliding sideways from one mega-starter company to another thinking their fortunes will change simply by driving a different color truck. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

 

It absolutely is... Until you get into those stressful situations.

I'm a month or so out of trucking (after nearly 1 year in) and I have to say, I miss those paid tourist days. My new job does not bring stress anywhere near what I experienced driving. I hated north east, mountainous back roads, picking up loads I had no experience securing, heavy traffic, crappy deadlines.. I think the worst thing for me though was not knowing what was next, and this was mostly on my company- there was never communication on what happened after I unload.

 

I should be in CDL school toward the end of February! After that I'm not certain what job I'll get. I'm very interested in OTR, but I also have interest in local pursuits such as tow trucks. I think it will be an interesting experience that's for sure.

the petro across the street is full
Sapp bros has 15 open spaces out of 20 go figure

 

one more thing any newbie will really not know what part of trucking he wants to do until he is out here
and gets the feeling of reality versus expectations

 

Can't figure that either. I like Petro, but like Sapp Bros more.

 

When they say no parking they mean all the spots around the fuel island and all the side curb parking spots are taken.
