If you were to come across a signiture 600 cummins engine, that had 1k miles on it for 23,000 and brand new what would you do.
By the way my favorite engines are cummins red heads

Is it 1k miles, or is it brand new? I suppose I'd ask that question first. I'd want a complete breakdown on what was done on the rebuild... I mean, if they just replaced the crankshaft and piston heads without overhauling the heads as well, that's about as useless as tits on a bull.

for 23k does a truck come with it...lol
in reality though what would you use it for put it in glider?
i would also want solid proof of the 1k miles before i paid that kind of money for it. and would want to know why its not in a truck running down the road. factory motor or remaned?Cetane+ Thanks this. -
factory and its just 1000 miles thats new

So this engine has been sitting some where for 12+ years. Signature 600 were put in trucks in early 2000
-
What's the story on it? Has to be a reason it only has 1miles.
1k miles is not new. -
My boss bought a new cm870 2 years ago. (27k). The signature is still being built I believe. I'd prolly take it. I guess I'm crazy though, I'm one of the few that favor the red engines. Love the big sig 6

Pretty much the same design as the isx without the emissions.btw cummins are the best out there.

This kinda makes me curious and wishing I knew more about marine diesels.. I mean, on the highway side, it's a big deal to get 600 horses out of a 14 liter engine, yet that Earthrace vessel which later got bought by those people on that Whale Wars show and sunk when a Japanese fishing vessel collided with it... that was powered by two Cummins marine diesels, also rated at 600 horsepower.. except those were 10 liter engines. I'm wondering what the powerband and torque rating of those would look like compared to the Signature 600 or a 600 hp ISX.

There are very big differences in marine engine ratings, based on application. Very different for pleasure crafts (where full power is used only for very short periods) then for commercial use, where high power is used for very long periods.

As an example a Caterpillar 3126B:
A-rating (continuous duty) max power = 250 hp
E-rating (Typical Time at Full Load: 1/2 out of 6 hours, Time at Rated Speed: Up to 8%) max power = 450 hp
