I just moved out of Midland this past summer. If you are looking for an ltl gig, most companies require one year minimum cdl experience. You could easily find a job in the oilfield, making pretty good pay. The downside to the midland-odessa area is the insane cost of living. My rent on a 2bed one bath was 1400 a month, and that was considered cheap. I worked for Saia there. When I left, they were offering a 5000 sign on bonus and 24.30 an hour top pay after 18 months. Overtime after 45 hours. Expect 60 hours a week plus. I would recomend the DFW area, mostly because Odessa gets super boring in a hurry.
