Sorry about the blank posts. My wife hopped on when she noticed deerhunter and TNMT talking about the kids. I see what you two are saying, but my kids having everything they need, roof, food, clothes comes first. I'm thinking for the future here and I don't want my kids to struggle like I did growing up. I want my kids to go to college without debt. I want them to be able to do all of the things I wanted to growing up that I couldn't because we were always broke. This isn't about a dream, its about striving to better the lives of the ones I love.

Its not the old days when you cant see your kids for weeks on end. With technology today I can very much be in their lives while Im on the road. And remember OTR is probably temporary until they start school in 3 or 4 years, I want the experience more than anything so I can have more doors open for my family and what not in the future. My kids are 18 & 6 months old, so we figure if I'm going to do this the time is now or never.

Thank you for your responses but the kids are covered and honestly I didn't ask about them.

I've never been home full time. I went into the Navy right out of high school for 10 years, then to trucking. Fortunately for the last four years my wife was able to go with me, our kids are grown. Telling someone not to have a career they enjoy makes for a miserable life at home. You do what your family can handle. If you couldn't be a father while not being home every night, no one in the entire military could have children. Especially with technology today, it's amazing. Your home a lot more in trucking than the military. We have no right to judge others decisions. Some families can't handle it, but some can. As Mike Rowe would say "Somebody's Got To Do It!"
