Wow .40 cpm to a inexperienced driver!

fact is they only pay about 400 per week during training....which can last up to three months. Then as a Solo driver the pay is based on current rates ( driver wages) 40 cents per mile is most likely up in the northeast sector...running short haul ( less than 300 miles) so that sucks.... Run 3000 miles @ .30cpm = 900.00 gross which is the average wage per week in this industry for a driver with less than 1 year exp.

My Original SS Card is 43 years old and unreadable....Thanks to my wife washing my wallet with out checking my pants.

My new one is about 20 years old and it has a clear plastic protector . Works like a charm to water proof it.

But according to the SS office

Do not laminate your card. Lamination prevents detection of many security features. However, you may cover the card with plastic or other removable material if it does not damage the card.

Class B is a waste of time, it severly limits what you can drive and will keep you local. Even many guys driving Class B things are actually A Drivers, mainly contruction due to them pulling equipment trailers over 10k. $6800 is a little high. $4-$5k seems to be the average with community colleges usually offering courses for closer to $3k. Yes, you can be "pre-hired" by companies while your still in school. Your much better off doing school on your own as most large carriers offer tuition reimbursemsnet anyways and then your free to go wherever you want. Go into the companies section and read the reviews that people put up and also check youtube, many drivers and students have VLOG'd about their experience in many company sponsered schools.

These pay for community college CDL school, lodging & 3 meals a day:

    Southern Refrigerated Transport
    KLLM
    Earl L. Henderson Trucking

Celadon - has their own CDL school & provides lodging and 3 meals a day.

You still may be better off trying the unemployment office first. They also pay for community college & private CDL school.

Prime pays just over 40 cents per mile if you drive one of their light weight trucks AFTER you are done with training. But thats not to horrible for an OTR new driver gig, you wont starve while you get your year in

Also go knock on doors at home, you might be suprised just how many could jobs can be had if you show up in a yard and talk to the boss

I personally talked to recruiters for 6 months before I made my choice on what company make a commitment with...

beware ... recruiters will tell you just about anything .. mostly that you will make a lot of money ... it's bull ... you will need to go through your rookie status and figure out how to make money through time ... we have all been there ... so don't be fooled

This is a lot to take in!

I need some quick answers on something really quick.

I just got offered a temp position through an agency just manual labor stuff, starts tmw. BUT I just got 2 voicemail from stevens transport because I started an application but didnt finish.

Do you guys think I should go ahead and take the temp position and do that in the meantime or do these companies start training you right away? Also any feedback on stevens before i call them back ?
